Introduction

Hey all, my first guide on mobafire :D
Plz don't just downvote it without reading it first, read it and if you still don't like it comment why you don't and i will try to edit it.
Let's start!

Runes

Why those runes?
Red: Ofc magic penetration, you need it for magic resistance staking teams.

Yellow: M5p/s for early game mana regen.
Flat mana seals for early game mana.

Blue: Flat mana glyphs for early game mana.

Quints: 1 M5p/s for even more mana regen early game.
2 Flat health quints for some survivability early game.

Masteries

Standard 9-0-21 with ghost masterie.
Nothing new there, I guess most people use it.

Items

With the new Ryze mana = damage.
So I start with:
Sapphire Crystal + 1 Health Potion and 1 Mana Potion
On your first trip back you should buy a Boots of Speed and upgrade your crystal to a Catalyst the Protector.

After that buy Tear of the Goddess and upgrade your Boots of Speed to Sorcerer's Shoes for some extra Mpen.

Upgrade your Catalyst the Protector to a Rod of Ages for some extra dmg and survivability.

Doing well: upgrade your Tear of the Goddess to a Archangel's Staff. And make a Banshee's Veil.

Not doing that well
: first start making Banshee's Veil with a Catalyst the Protector and then upgrade Tear of the Goddess to an Archangel's Staff and finish Banshee's Veil.

Start making your Manamune by buying Tear of the Goddess.

Doing well: Finish your Manamune and make Frozen Heart.

Not doing well: Make Glacial Shroud, finish Manamune and upgrade Glacial Shroud to a Frozen Heart.

Skills

With the huge changes in his skills I would like to talk about that.
Arcane Mastery
Nice passive. You can nuke and nuke and nuke and nuke. This is one of the things that makes ryze powerful.

Overload
This is your nuke. low cooldown + nice damage.
And it stacks with mana!

Rune Prison
This is your other nuking ability. Nice damage and a snare. Melee DPS champions won't come near you + it stacks with mana!

Spell Flux
Didn't really change after the patch. Still nice attack, doesn't stack with mana. And with your ulti it can deal a nice amount of damage.

Desperate Power
It got nerfed a little too much.
The extra MP is nice at level 6 and the AoE with spell flux is still good but without the ability power it lost it's usefulness IMO.
You can use it to heal, because of the spell vamp.

Sequence
I put 1 point in Spell Flux in the beginning for some damage at creeps.
After that 1 in rune prison and max overload with 1 point in your ult at lvl 6 for great damage combo.
After you maxed overload max Rune Prison, this spell also brings great damage + snare, great for harresment.
Then Spell Flux and your ult at last.

Overload has a nice range and great damage with much mana. Even at low levels. And the CDR passive is useful to all skills.

Because your ult isnt that usefull anymore i max it at last, with 1 point in your ult, you already have a great combo with ult -> spell flux -> overload.

Summoner Spells

I prefer Flash + Ghost. Because you will probably be focused in teamfights and ganked at early game and with flash and ghost you can get away from them.

Sometimes I use Ghost + Ignite or Teleport.
Ignite for early kills or Teleport for more map control late game.

You can use Clarity for a spell spam start but at the end its kinda useless because of your huge mana.
You can also use Heal but if you play safe at early game you won't need it.
Cleanse is a good choice too. It can safe your life when timed well.

Pros / Cons

Pros
- Much mana for endless nuking
- Rapid spell casting, short cooldown on nuke
- With Golem Buff unstoppable

Cons
- Can't do much when silenced
- Only 1 skill scales that scales good with AP
- Ultimate isn't that useful anymore

Playstyle

Like all casters, be careful at early game!
With a team fight, go in last and go out first!
Try to last hit as many as you can at early game!
At late game don't walk around on your own, the enemy probably has wards and is trying to gank you.

Jungle

I will keep this short:
you only have to kill 1 creep in the jungle, the Ancient Golem.
With his buff you can spam your nukes all the time

Summary

The way Ryze is played changed, and it will probably take a while for you to master it.
Maybe you are one of those people that think he got nerfed big time, if you think that: just play him and own everyone.

I hope you liked my guide and I wish you good luck on the field!
