Thresh is my favorite support currently. If played correctly you can easily carry yourself out of Bronze, Silver, Gold. This guide will give you the rundown of how I play Thresh.

This rune set is very versatile. It will work against basically any supports and ADC's.

With the new mastery system I found this to work best. I found that the Keystone I chose it good for the build I put on Thresh. I make Thresh tanky and he absorbs some damage that your ADC will receive.

My build never changes. Every game it is the exact same. Unless a team is all AD or all AP, which hardly happens in higher ELO. The build I use is very balanced against AD and AP champions and gives you a lot of HP.

Engaging with Thresh, I engage with my E. I run up to an opponent and E them towards me. I auto them which does bonus damage from my passive on my E. This should do a decent amount of damage off the start. I follow up with my Q as they run away. This is why I max my E, for the damage and the passive. After your Q, your E should be ready to use again. At this point you should be securing the kill. I highly recommend not engaging with Q until later into the game. It costs way to much mana and the cooldown is ridiculously long on it. If you can land your E to bring them closer to you it makes landing your Q 100x easier.

If you are winning lane I advise you to leave the turret up as long as possible. This will keep your opponents in lane and give them courage to push out knowing they have a turret right next to them. You can get 2-6 kills easily before the laning phase is over just by keeping the turret alive when you are ahead in lane. Once the turret falls start grouping mid and securing every and all objectives. Keep wards in the enemy jungle.
If you are losing early/mid game. Keep wards in your jungle and on objectives so you can attempt steals and contests to help your team come back into the game.

If top lane is struggling and you are doing well on bottom. Go help top and tell your ADC to farm under turret. Also tell your jungler to camp bottom. This will allow top lane to come back into the game. Also bottom lane will play super aggressive knowing that you have gone top. Giving the opportunity for some great ganks for your jungler.

Late game is all about hooking the carry. If you can get a good hook on their ADC and flay them into your ultimate, your team should be able to capitalize on that play. Vision is key, and always watch the map incase your teammates need help with your W.
