I picked up nautilus because he's free right now and honestly, knowing how nautilus works better really helps me out as an enchanter main (i've struggled fighting nautilus in the past because he just has so much cc and damage). That and nautilus is surprisingly easy to pick up and just play. His hook is wide and he can lock you down for years! I helped turn a game around by locking down a fed enemy yasuo so my team could dog pile him. OK enough of story time, who do you think a newbie naut should ban more, Morgana or Leona? (those two worry me the most)

Hi Tartmeringue, so happy to hear you've picked up Nautilus! Always love a good story, I'd be very curious to hear what some of your favorite enchanters are (I was a big Janna fan before picking up Naut).

So long as both Morgana and Leona are seeing good amounts of play (aka one of them isn't bottom tier at any given point in time), then I would recommend banning Leona over Morgana for both new and experienced Nautilus players.

For new players, the reasons why I would recommend this choice are as follows:

1. Leona inherently counters Nautilus without having to take specific actions. Basically, if a Leona player plays as they would any given game, they'll naturally do what makes the matchup challenging for Nautilus. Morgana needs to specifically use their Black Shield properly against Naut.

2. Late game, Leona will prove to be much more threatening to you and your team than Morgana will. That's because Leona does much more in late game teamfights, and Morgana's Black Shield only affects one champion. Also, Nautilus can peel much more effectively against Morgana than Leona

3. By leaving Morgana open, you will learn how to play against Morgana over time, which in my opinion is a quicker learning curve than it is to learn the Leona matchup.

At the end of the day, if you find that you personally have a more enjoyable experience vs one of them over the other, then feel free to ban the one you enjoy less :) Enjoyment comes first, and you'll learn any matchup over time so play what you end up enjoying most :)

That sounds about right, I always permaban leona anyway because she's just so annoying. I was a Sona/Yuumi main before I found Nami, who I feel has the best kit of the enchanters (not counting Lulu who has an insane kit but is more team dependent than Nami and Seraphine who is a mage masquerading as a enchanter) and is very balanced. I say this because when I play Nami, I feel like I can protect myself and my team better than say, Sona or Soraka. I recently picked up Janna as well, but I feel like Janna takes more work than Nami to get the same amount of value, as Janna's much squishier than Nami and her tornado can be hard to use. Nami just has a lot of what I look for in a champion and is a reliable blind/first pick due to not really having a hard counter (though she struggles with engage supports like Naut and Thresh, it isn't usually an immediately lost lane).

Really nice guide! Can you tell me why do you max E first?

Thank you so much! And of course, there are a few great reasons why maxing E will be the go-to option:

1. E is on a short enough cooldown that in a standard fight you will get to cast E multiple times during the fight.
2. E is an AOE ability, so in mid-game teamfights your DPS will go up much more than Q max.
3. E slow also scales with level, which will further increase your ability to restrict enemy movement
4. Maxing Q also means that, if the Q misses, you'll be losing out on a lot of damage. Similarly, if you were to consider maxing W, the W auto-attack enhancing damage only happens if the shield still persists. E is almost guaranteed to hit if you manage to get close to your target (except for Flash and the like).
