Introduction

Irelia is great offtank and dps. Going for solid health regeneration items and the lifesteal from her R paired with defensive items and runes, she can be deceptively tanky in team fights. Due to her great ability to stick to single targets, she is invaluable for eliminating the enemies carry in a team fight.

Runes

I really like taking armor penetration marks with most AD champions because of the greatly increased damage, especially against lighter targets without very much armor. Flat armor seals help with her low starting armor, and magic resist per-level glyphs are great for a lower resistance at 18. i grab hp5 quints to help stay in lane longer

Masteries

I take 0-9-21 masteries. I find that the added gold, experience, and mana regen from the utility tree help a lot. Presence of the master is invaluable to avoid deaths, as well as to help secure kills. The defensive tree can help with survivability in team fights as well as laning.

Items

i typically start with cloth armor and 5 health potions. i usually solo top, so i take a madred's razors to help with farming. i grab boots to stay agile early game, and then i finish off wriggle's lantern followed by merc treads. at this point in the game, im probably about level 10, and i have AD, lifesteal, armor, magic resist, a free ward, 20% of 1500 magic damage against minions, and move speed; all of which i need to stay alive and farm as well as harass and be effective in team fights. i get a trinity force as my main damage item, followed by a spirit visage for the health regen, a banshee's veil, and a guardian angel. this build leaves me doing a good deal of damage, and staying very resilient from a lot of armor and mres as well as the guardian angel and banshee's veil effects. the free wards early on help me set up as well as avoid ganks.

Skill Sequence

i take a point in bladesurge for farming, then max hiten style for regen. i max equilibrium strike second for the stun/slow.

Summoner Spells

i grab ghost as my first summoner spell for chasing and escaping. the boost can help me land my ult more effectively, and kite better while ulting. ignite can help me secure kills while ganking.

Summary

All in all, i really like this build. positive feedback/suggestions are appreciated
