Janna - The True Support Tank
So lets get down to business.
The runes im building with are magic pen/Mp5/ and some CDR runes with MS quints.
I take the magic pen runes for early game to the beginning of the mid game. The few kills that youll nab will be during this time with her W on fleeing champs and during ganks to keep em slow.
The Mp5 is to help out with the mana issues you can run into from constantly abilities to set up ganks when the jungler comes around to your lane.
The CDR is my standard choice over MR runes because your abilities will save your allies more then any other rune. Saving an ally from a clutch karthas ult will never stop being rewarding.

Beginning of Game
Now heres the tricky part that can make or break you. Always go boots first with health pots. Youll find that your going to be focused in the beginning because your squishy. Being mobile and having a heal will save you amd keep you in the lane longer then anything else. No mana pots because we got the mana regen runes.
Once you've passed the beginning and got around 1200 gold saved up, head back to base and buy BoM along with the starting items for an Aegis or Shurelyas. At this point you will want to lane and constantly be on the look out for whos going to get ganked next, once you see it head over and help them out to avoid or even counter gank. Even if there on the top lane and your on the bottom still go, pop ghost and run over.
Once you got shurelyas youll need to build based on their teams build, AP heavy build heavy MR, AD heavy build toward regular armor.

W first then E to max out. take one level of her Q at 4 so you have access to her knockup. with good use of her Q you can save countless allies. With good usage of her W and E you can tower dive or help friends flee to safety. Remember your base MS will be over anything your enemies can get to unless theyre specifically targeting you.
Counter Jungling is a big thing for Janna, ive netted level 2 kills on numerous junglers except shaco. If they dont die they almost always run back and get set back by a large amount.
If you can handle it then run into their jungle at the start and drop a ward at red or blue. If anything itll let you always have a tab on their jungler.
