the mid champion description blows and the guide is not good at all...

I just tried this build in my last 2 games. First game, they had a Viktor at mid and a Shaco jungling. I quickly realized I could not trade blows with victor at all as he has that shield and his skillshot does more damage than Karthus' bubbles. After the first couple levels, shaco made it a habit to come and kill me every change he got, even under my tower (via his ultimate). I died at least 5 or 6 times before the laning phase was over and the game quickly ended afterwards because Viktor rocked my team and I was useless.
Second game was vs a Lux and I quickly realized that, again, Karthus cannot trade blows with her at all. If you stand there and try to she will DEMOLISH you with her massive range and better root. Again, it was a humiliating loss.
I'm not sure if the problem is with the build or the champion but both games would have been an easy win as Veigar or Morgana.

This guide really worked. Didn't read it before the game started sorry to say but the items were great. Sivir stopped my recall. I stopped her heart.

Hi, I am wondering why many top guides like this use Ability Power Quints as opposed to Magic Penetration quints. I am a novice player, so I dont know what is better. People in the LOL forum seem to be unanimous about magic pen quints being superior to ap quints. Can someone explain the reason behind using ap? Other karthus guides and many other top caster guides also advocate ap quints.
