This is the build i use for Kass, so yes i have used it and it it seems to work for me, i'll try tweaking it though. I've been thinking about substituting Shurelya's or Soul Shroud for Deathfire grasp or some AP item. I see what you're saying, but this build seems to work for me.

I think ur mana lacks AP..
U got mana regen from archangel, which is huge, then, mana regen from Soul Shroud and Shurelyas.. holy ****, u won't need that much mana. You got 56 mana regen/5 only with items..
Your cds must be maxed, and yet, you will never run out of mana, but u have no ap items at all, until very late game, when u get a Rabadon..

Have u tried this? Is it viable?

And its ok to Kassadin be squishy, thats what casters are supposed to be, but Kass can ult away..
