Introduction - About Me

I am Justin, summoner name justin7327, and I am relatively new to LoL. I have been playing since the third week of season two and am doing fairly decent. This is my first build and would love some constructive criticism rather than "your build sucks." Also, everything in this is opinion, no one has to take anything to heart.
I mostly play support, I have been playing as Lulu since she came out, but I am good mid lane as well. I play support most….sporadic. I don’t typically ward the entire map or buy a lot of active items. I do however, let my ad carry take ALL the farm and I try my hardest to poke at the enemy to prevent them from farming and hitting my carry.

Other Possible Roles

Lulu isn’t only a Support. She can be played many other ways. I usually just play her support. If I am laning with a carry that is doing very poor early on I will switch roles from a support to more of a hybrid carry.
Lulu can definitely play mid, without a problem. Her poke is kinda evil and she can escape a gank very easily. Either turn her ganker into a squirrel or speed herself up to get out of there quicker while putting pix on herself to prevent taking as much damage as possible. Playing mid, or any other lane for that matter, one can play her either AD or AP if they are not comfortable with hybrid, I know I wasn’t at first. AP if you are looking for more of a poke and AD if you looking to chase them down and do some major damage. She is completely an all-around champion.
With any of these different roles I personally would still stick with the same runes and same masteries, as described in their respective sections.

Typically I will start Regrowth Pendant and a health pot or mana pot. But if they have a jungler and my carry wants it then I will go Faerie Charm, one Sight Ward, with some mana and health pots. The next time I go back I buy my Philosopher’s Stone and preferably a Heart of Gold as well. Don’t really buy boots yet, because you aren’t really trying to catch up and if you are trying to run away Lulu can use her Help Pix for a small shield and her Whimsy to speed herself up. I then stay in lane as long as possible and get as many assists as possible so that I can get an Aegis of the Legion when I go back next. The Aegis compliments your carry very well by giving them some armor and MR since they don’t build a lot. After my Aegis, or at least after I buy all three parts for it, is when I finally buy my level one boots. If I can I buy my Level two boots, Ionian boots of Lucidity, but Just some level one boots and a ward or two can do fine. After I buy my Aegis I pretty much buy items that make me very tanky. Depending on the team I will decide whether to buy a Zhonya’s Hourglass or Abyssal Scepter. Both give me a decent amount of AP and will make my Glitterlance doing even more damage and Help Pix a greater shield.
To do a small recap, my items I should have right now is:
- Aegis of the Legion
- Ionian Boots of Lucidity
- Abyssal Scepter
- Zhonya’s Hourglass
- Phil Stone
- Heart of Gold
The Phil Stone and Heart of Gold can either be turned into items for more health/active assisting items or sold for other things. Typically I sell them, but I will get to that in the “Alternatives” section. You can turn the Phil Stone into a Shurelya’s Reverie or an Eleisa’s Miracle. The Reverie for some health, greater health and mana regen and the CDR. Also good if you actually remember to use the active, though I always forget so I don’t usually get this item. If I don’t sell the Phil stone I usually get the Miracle, mostly for the Tenacity, but the regens are nice too. The Heart of Gold can be turned into a Randuin’s Omen or Locket of the Iron Solari. The Omen, what I typically turn it into, gives great extra armor and health regen. The +100 Health upgrade from the Heart to the Omen and the CDR is good as well. The active is nifty, as long as you remember to use it, but it still is not useless if you forget to use the active. The locket gives you less health and armor than the omen, also cost less, but gives an aura of health regen for allies, could be nifty if ignited or just low on health and wont teleport back.
This pretty much concludes the Items section. If you actually get this late in the game your item build should be:
- Ionian Boots of Lucidity
- Aegis of the Legion
- Abyssal Scepter
- Zhonya’s Hourglass
- Locket of the Iron Solari or Randuin’s Omen
- Shurelya’s Reverie or Elesie’s Miracle

Alternate Items

Typically I will sell my Heart of Gold and Phil Stone fro other items once I finish my core build. Depending on the team, whether they have built some armor from my AD carry or some MR because I have harassed a lot. If the former then I will build more AP, a Rabadon’s Deathcap and a Rylai’s Crystal Scepter is a good choice. If the latter, then possibly an Infinity’s Edge and a Black Cleaver. Going Hybrid is even possible, but a little harder. If going hybrid then one AD item should be bought, Black Cleaver is an excellent choice for the attack speed, damage, and enemy armor reduction. One AP item should be bought as well, you could go with a Rabadon’s for the big boost of AP, but a Nashor’s Tooth would be a better choice because of the attack speed, AP, and CDR.

My runes are basic and pretty simple. Since I use my auto attacks as one of my means for poking I have attack speed Quintessences and flat damage Marks. I use flat armor seals because, well, they are just that amazing. Walking into lane with 13 extra armor? Why wouldn’t you want that? Last but not least, I have mana regen per level glyphs because I use my pix to either poke at one and hit the other with a Glitterlance or to shield an ally or myself from any danger.

I don’t buy wards often but if I do it mostly only in the beginning of the game, roughly the first 20 minutes, and it is just to guard my carry from a possible gank. I don’t usually ward dragon/baron or the rest of river unless I am asked to.
