Skill Sequence - Breakdown

Call of the Void- This spell has many more uses than simply silencing enemies or harassing them.
When the game starts hit Ctrl+Q as fast as you can then use this ability at the summoner pool four times as fast as possible, why? This charges your voidling so that your next cast will summon it, however at this point is is uncontrollable because you don't have Malefic Visions yet.
The other use is checking bushes or over jungle walls for enemies, why? This spell is much like Anivia's wall, or Teemo's mushrooms whereas it allows you to see a small area around where it is placed.

Null Zone- This spell has a few uses but never should be used to farm minions or harass enemies. The reason I get it at level five when most don't get it until' they have finished Call of the Void and Malefic Visions is because it is almost a requirement of using your ultimate. Alone your ultimate does damage but since it stuns it doesn't do as much damage as other champion's ultimates, but combined with Null Zone it's damage dramatically increases. Also later in the game Null Zone combined with Rylai's Crystal Scepter is great for allowing your team to escape a gank, simply put it in the path of the enemy as you run and they are forced to run over it, take damage and get slowed, or run around slowing them down.

Malefic Visions- Like Null Zone this should never be directly used to harass enemies due to it's high mana cost, but unlike Null Zone this is the spell used to farm minions. Simply auto attack three minions at least once then cast it on the lowest, the reason you auto attack is so that your dot is able to kill all of the minions without it timing out, however end game the auto attack is not necessary. Like I said this should never be used to DIRECTLY harass enemy champions, but if cast on a minion and the minion dies this dot will pass to an enemy champion making it very annoying for them to come close to their minions to farm yours, this is how you control mid as well as harassing them with your silence. Lastly rank this spell up as fast as possible until' rank four, the reason being is this;

Rank 2 - 75 Mana - 14 Mana per - 5.3 Kills
Rank 3 - 90 Mana - 18 Mana per - 5 Kills
Rank 4 - 105 Mana - 22 Mana per - 4.7 Kills
Rank 5 - 120 Mana - 26 Mana per - 4.6 Kills

As you can tell the least difference between any of the ranks and it's required kills to refund the full cost is rank 4 and rank 5, so ranking up to 5 as far as farming minions goes is at the least of priorities.

Nether Grasp- This skill will never be able to kill a champion your level or close to your level while leveling up that is at or close to full health, so don't waste it especially to harass. Only use this skill if you are able to Null Zone under the enemy and they are at about 50-80% health Considering the ~1 sec before and ~1-1.5 secs after your ultimate wears off, the enemy will be in Null Zone for a total time of about 4.5-5 seconds meaning at rank 1 of Null Zone they will take at least 16% of their total health in damage from Null Zone alone, combined with your ultimate followed by Malefic Visions and Call of the Void you will almost always kill them.
A few things to consider while using your ultimate to focus someone. While channeling your ultimate you are able to use summoner spells and items exactly like channeling any other spell such as Fiddlesticks, Pantheon, Shen. This means while channeling your ultimate you should always try to ignite the enemy, and if you have it use Deathfire Grasp on them. But make sure you understand the range on Ignite and Deathfire Grasp before casting them while channeling your ultimate because you can easily interrupt your ultimate if you use one of them while the enemy is out of range of them.

Beginning - Buy Doran's Ring, and 1 Health potion. These two should last you long enough for you to get 1110 gold or even 1460 gold to buy Giant's belt (to build towards Rylai's Scepter) and possibly speed boots 1, these are more for defense than offense. Both items will give you considerable survivability allowing you to carefully place your null zone and call of void then channeling your ultimate without worrying if your enemy will kill you first, and also can prevent you from being ganked.
Build your Rylai's Crystal Scepter ASAP because when you use your Malefic Visions on an enemy each tick will cause Rylai's to activate slowing the enemy (does not stack but it does re-apply the effect), after you complete Rylai's go for Mejai's Soulstealer, and do some soul harvesting. Reasons for Deathfire Grasp have already been explained and the rest of the items are only for the extra ability power.
