So with Malzahar as you probably know he is AP which means he needs magic penetration to get past all the tanks magic resist which reduces magic damage which can make your abiltys do alot less damage which believe me i thought it wouldnt do alot less damage but that extra 50 to whatever damage can mean the difference between a kill or assists in team fights in which malzahar can inflict alot of damage to all types of champs from the AD carrys,AP carrys and also tanks.

Greater Mark of Insight x9: marks of insight give you a bonus for magic penetration which explained above give alot of bonus damage against strong magic resist champs

Greater Seal of Clarity x9: seals of clarity give you mana regen and gets progressively higher until you reach level 18 in the game

Greater Glyph of Force x9: glyphs of force give you ability power and again same as seal of Clarity get progressively higher when you get higher levels in game
