Mark of Insight
Shredding of MR gives you more bonus damage, and it is important to have it on mordekaiser as he can just spam his Q and E all day to dish out some massive harrasment to your counterpart.
Seal of Regeneration
Getting HP regen, will ensure u greater sustainability. Since his nerf in the recent patch, his shield is aint effective in the past if you were looking to sustain and farm. This will not only gives you more exp n gold, it also frustrates your opponent more as each skill goes to waste, especially starting with a Regrowth pendant.
Glyph of Warding
Additional MR for Mordekaiser gives him sustainability against magic attacks since he has low MR early game.
Quint of Swiftness
Movement speed without starting with boots of speed will be great, as it gives u more sustainability in dodging attacks and getting out of ganks fast enough without burining a flash or ghost. It also gives you an advantage in chasing down champs who are low on health!
Quint of Potency
Just for some extra damage between ur lv 1-9 stages, I would prefer a Health Regen Quint though, feel free to change thigns up.

If your doing bad in your lane, try to purchase some armors. If your against a caster, get a Null's magic mantle or a Negatron cloak. If its against a Bruiser, get a Cloth Armor or Chain Vest upon your return. This could all be built into higher tier items which scales towards your late game play too!
Getting a Hextech Revolver is also important as it gives u that extra lane sustain to continue your farm and harrassing your opponent with a great amount of damage at the same time.
If the opponent team consists of 3+ ap go for FON 1st, if its 3+ AD go for thornmail.
In all, i would like to say, play Morde in a more conservative manner from lvs 1-6 as he is squishy after the nerf. Start being aggresive during ganks and if you can pick urself a kill do so.
