Champion Build Guide

My Platinum Jungler Mindset and Tips

By SugaKayn
How to Play Jungle in Platinum
Jungle plays a major part in every state of the game. The early setups and the execution of the early game is what sets a game up for success or failure. So in this guide, I will put my personal experiences and tip and tricks I have used to climb to Platinum in the Jungle role during Season 10. The layout is...

1. Game Plan
2. Win Conditions
3. Pathing
4. Execution
Game Plan
So, you get into champion select, and you decide to play Kha'zix. But you fail to decide that maybe a Kha'zix might not be the best pick into a Cho-Gath top, and a Sion Jungle. The first thing is playing something that is within the realm of possible being able to carry. Chances that Kha'zix is going to carry is very low, especially in an elo where picks actually start to matter. Winning or losing does start in champion select, which people seem to forget or fail to realize. I recommend having an AP, an AD, and 2 tank champions that you can play very well. For me those picks are Nidalee, Kayn, and Zac. Of course, sometimes your pick will be banned, which is why you will need 3 champions to play.

Knowing what you want to do in a game is very important, something many players seem to forget; what is your purpose this game? Do you want to focus on ganking? Do you want to have a lockdown on Dragons and Heralds? Maybe you just want to invade all game and make the enemy rage quit, the choices are there, you just have to decide what your plan is and make sure you have as many tools you can have to make it happen. Which leads to number 2; win conditions.
Win Conditions
Many players are good at spotting the win conditions. Many bronze players say that the win condition was not met in the post-game lobby before queuing for their next game, fuming that they were the win condition, but couldn't get there in time. This all is because the team did not fill in the win conditions. As a jungler, you are the biggest asset to completing the win condition form and submitting it for a win. Play around your win conditions, even if it will handicap you for the next 5 minutes. It will be completely worth it, and will make your solo que climb a lot simpler. Remember that sometimes objectives are win cons, for example, Infernal Soul.
Pathing
Pathing can be different every game, and pathing sometimes determines who wins the game in the first 3 minutes. Pathing is very important, especially for those early game jungle champions, and making full use of your champion's kit is very crucial for success. Level 3 ganks are quite effective, but knowing what is going on is most important. (Seeing the enemy mid ward botside brush, seeing the enemy jungler invading your jungle, or knowing that Twitch is going to level 2 gank botlane no matter what)
For a full clear, you want to practice getting your full clear done by 3:15 in-game time. This is the best time effective clear, and will get you rolling onto the map in record time. Blue side has the shortest time to level 3, while red side has more EXP and Gold, at the cost of a longer clear time, and sometimes, an unhealthy clear.
Execution
So you counter picked the enemy jungler, the enemy team all played squishy ranged champions, and now you are here as Dark Harvest Blue Kayn, all ready to carry the game. You know your win conditions are getting Caitlyn and Pyke ahead, and making sure that Camille doesn't get tower dived at level 6. Now. all you have to do is take the right pathing, and you will be set into the driver's seat, ready to carry your team to victory! Some games you lose that you should have won, and sometimes the exact opposite happens. The only way to know when to do what comes with time played in this game. Understanding the basics and fully utilizing them is what will separate a good player from a great player. Thank you for coming to my pep talk, I will be slowly editing this over time, preferably not at 6am in the morning before going to bed.
