Too much text for what you are trying to say.

This build works great on a standard AP caster but in my opinion, something a little less gold-intensive is required for Nunu.

Nunu, even at level 18 and super farmed, takes a long while to clear even one minion wave.
Thus, his gold potential is quite low.


Nunu's strengths lie in ganking/supporting your team, while dishing out reasonable damage and being able to survive.

He's the magical equivalent of an Offtank Dps. And for that reason, this build is too standard for my liking.

You make a good point about Mejai's. I think the biggest reason I don't include it is because, being the first champion I really played, I died quite a bit. I'm also hesitant to use stacking items because by design they're strongest when the other team dies a lot. When they'd be most useful (i.e. against good opponents) they're less powerful.
Nonetheless, you do raise a good point. Mejai's is cheap and unbelievably powerful if you play well. Will of the Ancients is a good suggestion too. I'll add a note about them in the items section. I also want to mention the new Moonflair Spellblade for CC heavy opponents.

I think this is a solid AP build. I would consider adding a Mejai's between the catalyst and banshee early game. I know you are stressing an early banshee's to really improve your laning sustainability, but Mejai's is cheap and if you are good at staying alive, you will get a ton of assists and even some kills that more than makes this item worth the trouble. Following this up with the Banshee's and your laning sustainability just got that much crazier and your returns on the mejai's will just be stupid when you get your rabadon's up. Also, if you have trouble keeping the stacks up late game, you can sell it and swap in a Will of the Ancients or a tankier piece to improve your survivability.

I've been trying to find a good Nunu guide since I just bought him. My first few games have gone pretty horribly, but hoping to get better.
