I really like Nocturne, but i do not like jungling so this is my attempt to build a DPS nocturne for laning. Nocturne is in my opinion a great champion. He has great skills and can really be a team player with his ultimate. I appreciate any feed back or suggestions you guys have.

Pros
+ great at farming with umbra blade and dusk bringer
+ awesome ultimate
+ can get pretty nice DPS
+ Good at escaping
+ Phenomenal Ganker
+ Great movement speed

Cons
- Squishy
- If you use all your abilities rapidly you may run in to mana starvation early game
- because he is so squishy he is more dependent on his laning partner than some champs

I take attack speed marks because nocturne's passive really works well with attack speed and because I wasn't sure what else to use. I use health seals because Nocturne is really squishy. I mean really squishy. So, hp seals help a lot early game. I take cool down runes because Nocturne's abilities are fantastic and why wouldn't you use them as much as possible? I like flat health quints because they help with nocturne being so squishy.

I play very offensively so the majority of my masteries focus on attack. I do however use some in utility to increase health/mana regen and to get the experience boost. A lot of people dont like experience boost because it essentially is pointless after level 18. While that is true and a valid point, I feel that leveling quickly is always good and with nocturne you are trying especially hard to get to your Ulti and to get a level advantage quickly so the experience masteries help.

I start with Dusk bringer then I put points in to Shroud until i have to put them in something else at which point I go to Dusk Bringer again. Get paranoia whenever I can and max shroud asap, putting points in to Dusk Bringer along the way. I dont put anything in to unspeakable horror until i have to

The items i use give nocturne attack speed, attack damage, and crit. three things that really give him good damage output. I like frozen mallet on nocturne because the 700 health is a huge help and the slowing effect is absolutely great.

I like to take Exhaust and Flash. Exhaust makes getting away from nocturne almost impossible, and you can surprise enemies that think they have you but exhausting and suddenly dropping their damage output or by exhausting them under one of your towers. I like to take flash because it is a very diverse spell. It is useful in many situations. You can use it to escape or chase if absolutely necessary. One of my favorite tactics to use as nocturne when escaping is throwing a dusk bringer back toward my base for the increased move speed that the dusk trail gives. Then at the end of the dusk trail flash toward base. If you do this very few champions will be able to catch you.

Overall i feel nocturne is a very powerful champion and one that i really enjoy playing. This guide shows how I build nocturne but I am always open to suggestions and advice. Let me know what you guys think.
