Champion Build Guide
Intro to Aurelion Sol
Intro
Aurelion Sol is one of the most unique and interesting champions to be ever released on the rift. His kit is one of the rare examples where Riot clearly defines champion strength curve. You go from being an imprisoned dragon to star god unleashed in a span of one league of legends game. His abilities work well together and have synergies but they are never overwhelming or impossible to play against. While on the other hand there is always room to improve when it comes to executing your combos.
Early Game
Due to insane mana costs we require several mana aids including starting tear of the godess. It allows us to cast a lot more which compensates for the weakness of our abilities. Try to not fall behind too much while also stacking the passive using your E when few enemy minions fall low. Common tactic is to spread your auto attacks on multiple minions, drop your E and further burn them with Q to execute and harvest the star dust. The core weak point is that as soon as you drop E and make yourself stationary with Q the enemy champions will try to punish you, so choose your timing carefully.
Trading
Once we get a little bit stronger we will look for aggressive trades as that is the only way to create lane prio and enable ourselves to cleanly roam without losing anything. The trading pattern goes as follows: Enemy mid laner, let's say Orianna, uses her ball to hit minions, we will move forward and initiate with E pulling enemy into our laser(Q). Because they used their abilities on minions they will look to run away, we will immediatelly follow with W as when it's used it will reset the cooldown of our laser and give bonus to our damage. That is a trading pattern where we use 2 Qs back to back avoiding the cooldown. If all goes well enemy mid laner is either low, had to flash away or dead. We use the pressure advantage to either hit the turret, get a good reset, or roam.
Mid Game
Mid game is a peculiar time for our teen star forger. You posses a decent arsenal but it has to be used in an optimal way to be effective. Most champions will still be difficult to crack but in mid game our damage numbers are pretty good so we are looking to accelerate our scaling. We do so by exploiting enemy weakness. League is a 5 player game sadly and some are always worse than others. We look to find the stragglers lagging behind. Find a low HP adc farming, greedy mid laner trying to bounce the wave in the sidelane, clueless jungler not tracking the map. As soon as we mark our target we move into action with our flight. During the flight we will drop our E and begin cooking them. If we know their flash is up we will usually hold our ultimate otherwise we use it in combination with our E for maximum value.
Late game
Aurelion sol in the late game is the alfa and the omega. He is the most valuable piece on the board. You have to be extra careful with your positioning as most champions have tons of safety mechanics at this stage(zhonya, qss, mikaels, etc.).
Everybody will be tracking your positioning out of fear so we have to be smart and make a glorious entrance. We will be a bit more dormant and use our W flight with pretty much unlimited resources to catch every wave possible while clearing camps. This puts a lot of pressure on enemies as you are infinitely scaling and also unlocking your empowered ultimate ability. In late game it's not about many ok fights, it's about 1 perfect fight. We will farm up our big ultimate and wait for the opportune moment. During dragon and baron dances, rotations around objectives enemies will slip up. They might overstack or somebody will be left behind on the wrong side of the wall and that is when we strike. Using the standard initiation combo we will crack open the teamfigth except with the late game big ult enemies stand no chance. If we chose our moment correctly they will scatter and be slowed by the shockwave while some remain stunned. Your team should be running them over at this point and as long as we get 1 kill we can reset our flight and look to either chase down remaining enemies or push key objectives.
