I would say you want to take gore when their jungler+top has a big damage spike out of nowhere or into teamcomps of such so you can still be valuable to your team being able to somewhat engage for your team and not be so badly punished for it. Often i find myself taking hydra depending on the teamcomp i go straight into eclipse / dusk if their team is really squishy.
