If you're honestly having that much trouble being squishy, you're doing something wrong. I've never had a big enough problem to force me to change my build around in favor of more defensive items until late game when other champions begin to be able to put on some hurt.
If you have no armor from runes or masteries, any carry with armor pen is dealing true damage to you.Thats a problem. I don't have a problem with Riven being squishy, because I fixed it. You however will struggle to play her aggressively in your lane without a perfect partner or a bunch of pots. The pitiful lifesteal from Dorans Blade won't do you any good if you get pushed behind your turret. My suggestion is to incorporate some form of defense. She doesn't need the attack speed, and the defense is far more useful, especially if you also start with a Dorans Shield.
Every time I see the title of your guide I get tough flashbacks to Killer Instinct on the Super NES and feel old :D
haha. I feel like i'm back in an old arcane with the console fighting games.
Its not even a matter of the last two Items. With Riven, if you don't find a way to fix her low defense at level 1, you are too squishy to even fight back.
Most Rivens use Merc Treads or the Ionian Boots, as her Q and E let her move fast, getting movement speed 3 boots is a little redundant.

that is why I left the last two items open to whatever the game needs. I find that most of the time, more armor really isn't needed on a team with good players, but then again if you're getting focused, obviously you'd build armor/mage resist.

Trinity is to expensive for its stats... Furthermore you have 0 armor which makes you squishie like hell. Every AD-Carry will rape you. Boots of Swiftness seems also not so good on her, one stun and you are dead. I wont vote but just think about it.

there's been some number crunching on if tri-force is good for her, i read that since the proc scales with base ad and her base ad is really low, it won't do as much damage. also the internal 2 second cd on the proc makes it a waste of a lot of money imo, but i'll have to try out the build before voting on it
I find it useful because of the extra health, slow, and attack speed on it. The passive of Sheen is just an added bonus.
