Welcome to Ryze, the Leagues premier destination for magical destruction. With the recent changes to items and Ryzes ultimate ability I'm finding it hard to find a build I really like for him. So, I made my own.

For runes I just stacked straight ability power, with the new Deathcap you're looking at 108.108 AP just from runes, that's pretty sexy. As for the AP runes I go for the ones that scale to 18 because they give more AP in the end, if you're looking for a quick buildup go for the straight AP runes though.

Offensive tree points are pretty self explanatory, as for the Support tree, the 166 or so mana from expanded mind is a waste of 4 points. Lets face it, as Ryze, you will die. The points are better served reducing the amount of time you're dead than on a crummy 166 mana.

There are a few alternative items than the basic ones I put here but they're situational.
If you're doing amazingly well and the other team starts stacking magic resist to stop you, drop the Rod of Ages and get a Void Staff (Remember, the lower the enemy magic resist the less effective Void Staff is, if they don't have at least 80+ magic resist get Abyssal Scepter.) . The Rod of Ages is there for survivability more than anything else and I prefer it to Ryali's because it's more HP, mana and AP. Honestly, as Ryze, the odds of the fight lasting long enough for the slow on Ryali's is slim to none. Take the extra AP and health.

The reason I do it in this order is I root them so I can run towards them, Overload as I'm still running to them and then Spell Flux on top of them for most bounces. Don't expect to kill people before 6 as you won't hit very hard.

Ryze is a really fun champion to play, by far my favorite caster. Please try the build before you rate it! This is my first build, after months of browsing this site and not adding anything to it I decided to help out with Ryze.
