Why shoulderguards instead of Sickle? In my experience its much easier to stack sickle and buy yoummu faster

Yeah, Sickle stacks easy with his empowererd W, and it's a valid item if you like it better. Personally, I like the ability to help push the wave that Shoulderguards give. It lets me put a lot of pressure on the enemy lane and compensate for my ADC if they have bad wave management or clear speed (like with an Ezreal). This means I can get priority in lane easier, and help jungle if they need it. So while stat wise, Sickle makes sense, but for the overall gameplay advantage and flexibility I like Shoulderguards more. Also shoulderguards give you more HP sustain, and I already take presence of mind, which gives me mana sustain.

Well Steel Shoulderguards allows you to control waves much better then Spectral Sickle. By procing it early you can actually get level 2 on your lane before your enemies which can have an incredible impact on the game. At level 1 Ezreal won't have his Arcane Shift, Caitlyn won't have her 90 Caliber Net, etc. allowing you to get some early kills or get rid of Flashes. Also Steel Shoulderguards is a much less risky choice. Sure you get that gold a tiny bit later most of the time but I'd say it is worth it If it saves your life every now and then. Also keep in mind that support items have now limited quest gold at 1000. Meaning that, rushing for gold lead isn't nearly as abusable as it used to last season. We can also clearly tell that this build is more focused at utility and defense rather then raw damage. AND stats from Steel Shoulderguards synergy greatly with Overgrowth, Aftershock, Font of Life, Bone Plating, Gargoyle Stoneplate and Spirit Visage - increasing the effectiveness of all of those runes/items by a bit.

I can potentially think of some situations when Spectral Sickle could be better. Maybe in same raw AD builds in specific match ups but overall I'd say that with this build you want to go for Steel Shoulderguards pretty much every game.

If all that data still isn't enough to change your mind then check the site here and filter through all different ELOs. Steel Shoulderguards is a dominant starting item in all of them or this site - there you can see that proplayers like Bwipo, Dream, Ayel, etc. haven't picked Spectral Sickle once in pro-league.

Now as I am reading this comment - it sounds kind of aggressive tbh :D Wasn't the point to put you down or anyfin. Just wanted to explain my point here as much as possible :D

Have a ravishing day <3

Ah no worries, you explained it perfectly. Haven't though actually about using Shoulderguards to rush lvl 2 and kill early. That's some 200IQ strat.
I see it now, especially with Aftershock build. It has 200HP more so good for pantheon as he is squishy.
But I still think playing with Sickle is more satisfying. Higher AD, faster gold income so you can get longswords, Serrated dirk faster and Mana regen allows to harass enemies more.
Or maybe it's just from that when I buy Shoulderguards my teammates don't let me to CS or midgame begins early so it takes me 8 minutes longer to fully upgrade.
It's probably not the right choice mathematically (Sickle has lower WR than shoulderguards) so I will start with the latter.
Thanks a lot for explanation. :)

So I made the changed to the 2nd runes - swapped them with Sudden Impact and Ultimate Hunter (as I maxed out W first) and in combination with Aftershock it works great.

I've been running this a lot lately and it's working pretty well. I suggest using Demolish instead of Font of Life though because font is hard to proc in lane without going all-in.
