Building-Meaning for items

Step by step
Firstly you buy, faerie charm,2 health potions,2 mana potions and 2 wards. After you get a philosopher stone to gather money. Get mercuary treads and then rush trinity force to do more damage. Get rabadon to maximise your healing and later on save up for a warmog to become more beefy.To ensure survival get a guardians angel. If your want,turn your philosophers stone into a shurelya's reverie near end game.

Strategies

Supporting
If supporting, always use pulverise and then walk behind the enemy quickly and knock them back for your AD carry or AP carry to kill. Don't take the minions farm and always use your triumphant roar when your team member/members get low.

AP carrying
If you want to AP carry,always change warmog into a rylais crystal sceptor to maximise slows and damage since this can be damaging. Although if your the AP carry, still try to anticiate with your ultimate due to your team members can get into the battles while you pick up kills with your crowd control.

Tanking
If your tanking full on,you can take away the rabadon deathcap for a randuin omen or thornmail to maximise defense. If not defense,get a Force of Nature for magic resistance. Alistar is an offensive tank due to his crowd control so always anticiate with your ultimate and if you get low, use a randuin omen slow to get their carrys away from you or your teammates.

Jungling

Strong jungling
If your aiming for strong jungling, try to roam around alot for your teams constant kills. Alistar as I prefer,is and always has been an offensive jungle because his knock-ups and knockbacks can really be effective for ganking. Grab a smite instead of an exhaust for this.

Pros/Cons

Pros
If an Alistar has a load of assists or kills, he's hard to shut down due to his tankiness and damage. Alistar is very hard to take down in team fights so you can tank out the enemy team and still come out alive :).

Cons
Alistar can be shut down start game very easily because he wont have his ultimate to escape or anticiate. He isn't very offensive start game also because his damage isn't just as strong middle or end game.
