About the Champion

To most, thoughts of yordles do not conjure images to be feared. The easygoing half-pint race, though fierce, is often regarded with some degree of joviality. Their high-pitched voices and naturally cute forms inspire something of a protective instinct in the larger races, or at least bring to mind images of children playing at being adults. Every now and again, however, a yordle turns so bad that, even at its small stature, it strikes terror into the hearts of others. Veigar is such a twisted yordle. As a master of the magical black arts, as well as a corrupter of cosmic energy, he is one of the most powerful sorcerers on Valoran.

As a child, Veigar was a normal yordle with one small exception - he had a deep curiosity for the world beyond Bandle City. The young yordle spent much of his time studying the rest of Valoran, and he jumped at the chance to join a business that traded with other major city-states. Unfortunately for both him and the world, a deal with Noxian traders turned into shady business and went bad; Veigar and his companions were subsequently set up to take the fall. Arrested by the authorities, he was imprisoned within the walls of Noxus for years. Such isolation is very dangerous for yordles - undoubtedly why his cruel jailers did such a thing - and Veigar was slowly driven mad.

He eventually escaped, having become a twisted version of his former self. Instead of returning to his people and Bandle City, he sought tutelage from dark wizards across the land. With his demented will focused on one task, he quickly became a dangerous and powerful wizard in his own right. Now he seeks to end all conflict on Valoran by bringing all of the city-states to their knees, regardless of their affiliation. The League of Legends is the perfect tool to help him meet his ends - for now.

Introduction

Veigar is arguably the most under rated AP mid there is in the game right now. When you can master his stun combo with the bomb and Q/R shots, he is an enemy squishy's nightmare. He is particularly useful in team fights with the ability to engage, defend, and assist in running away with his AOE stun. On top of this AOE stun, he has AOE bomb damage. The cherry portion of the ice cream is that his Q is an unlimited AP stacker. Anyone who stacks AP will wish they didn't when they cross paths with Veigar and his ult.

Runes

For runes, I take magic pen marks, flat mana regen seals, level stacking AP glyphs (works well for mid-late game with AP % boost items), & finally I take flat health quint for more survivability early game.

Items

Doran's Ring

1st trip back: 2nd Doran's Ring
Boots
(Possibly begin towards hex rev)

2nd trip back: magic pen boots
hex rev/will of ancients (YAY! life steal = sustainability)

From here, I typically move towards the deathcap. This is the mid game in which you will want the highest amount of AP to transition into late game. Once death cap is built, go for Morello's Tombstone for the utility + AP. After this if the game is still going, move to either void staff or soul shroud (sell a doran's ring) depending on what you need most at this point.

Skill Sequence

Veigar's skill sequence is hard to beat, even with the +35 tenacity. First off, you need to be consistently putting pressure on the opposing mid with you stun, then que the bomb, shoot your Q, and the bomb will fall as your Q is flying at them. You must que the bomb before you q shot as to allow for the delay with the bomb. For the most part, you will want to the place the stun on top of them to stun them immediately and drop your bomb slightly behind them in the stun to still hit them in the stun and if they escape back at the last sec. Shooting your Q for further damage. If the enemy is low enough, proceed to ult/ignite them for the kill. Your stun is a 2.5 sec stun at max, which even if the enemy has the +35 tenacity, will allow time for the bomb to hit them once you reach 2.25 sec at level 13.

Summoner Spells

Q Shot: Always, always, always try to last hit as many minions as possible with this skill. It is a permanent +1 AP each time you do.

W Bomb: Use in combination with AOE stun for solo/team fights. Use W bomb on back 3 minions in minion packs for instant 3 minion kills beginning lvl 7-9. Bomb is also good for checking bushes and jungle as it has good range. (NOTE: the reason I typically choose to continue maxing this spell at lvl 6 is beacause the range/harassment of this spell combined with the stun/Q shot is better than taking the ult at this point, in most cases. The only exception to this is if the AP mid is already low on health and I'm looking to finish them at lvl 6-7)

E Stun: A beautiful AOE stun which serves almost as good as Amumu's ult, except, it isn't an ult... which makes this close to broken.

R Shot: AP champions run and hide. This ult hits for a large base damage plus AP bonus damage plus 80% of your target's AP. Yes, someone plz build the deathcap so I can own you.

Summary

The important thing to remember with Veigar is you need to always be in the back of team fights, and you always need to be watching for potential AOE stun moments. Your stun has a MASSIVE range to it which can catch opposing champions off guard every time. Someone may think they are playing safe, but Veigar can long range stun instantly, que bomb, perform skill shots/ignite you, flash out and your dead before you even know what happened. He's like a deadly grasshopper with purple magic. Enjoy.
