I tend to miss Q early in the game ( it might seem I'm shooting randomly, but i'm learning how does enemy move and adjust it later in the game), And I tend to spam abilities (most adcs and sup have greater AA than morg or hooks).

So I recently decided to go full utility + tanky. So instead of FRQ, I get Eye of the Watchers ( 100% mana regen + less ap). And get Rylai. I know it is not efficient by when enemy team as fast moving champs. It helps me in slowing them down.

Instead of Q + W, I do just W ( zoning, permaslow for 5 seconds, initiation or escape) and wait for my team. Everyone expects morgs Q not W is a new CC. It takes a lot of gold, and that's why no FRQ.

I feel like Boots of Ionian Lucidity would become irrelevant pretty fast as you finish your build. The 10% CDR would go to waste as you get over 40% CDR from the other items. Additionally, I wonder why 5 points in Merciless is necessary for a support. Considering how mana-hungry Morg is (especially early-game) I feel like 5 in Meditiation and one in Dangerous Game would be more useful to a Support. Merciless seems like it would increase the chance of KSing your adc. Thoughts?

Im very happy you went over maxing your black shield second because i do see alot of people who max that last, this guide was very helpful

I play Morg a lot, but I've never felt the need to get a ruby sightstone, generally I finish my Sightstone, FQC, and Zhonya's and then depending on the situation, I go Mikaels/Banshee's Veil/Thornmail then build hard damage with a Rabadons DC. Is this a good build path?
Edit: I also never go Sorc Shoes or Mobi boots, I go Ionian Boots, can I get you opinion on that? :) Thanksssss!!!

The example final build is exactly that - a build once it's been 100% completed. I have Sightstone in the "core items" chapter, but I wanted to make sure that people knew it was an option to upgrade once it's been 40 minutes into the game.

I'll be honest, I like to go full AP myself - especially when I'm messing around in normals with friends, heh - but Deathcap is such a big money dump, it's hard to get enough gold as a support to finish it. Instead I usually go Morello or Abyssal (since they do still have some teamfight utility), and then if I still have a lot of gold, maybe Rylai's or Liandry's.

When I play Morg in ranked though, I almost always go utility - so Zhonya's --> Locket --> Frozen Heart, etc. Mikael's, Banshee's, and Thornmail are all pretty niche items actually, and I generally only get them if I'm going against specific champions. Locket and Frozen Heart are useful 90% of the games, so it's almost always worth grabbing them as soon as you have enough gold for it.

The boots were outdated because this guide hadn't been updated in months. They should be fixed now :)

I found that when you play morgana sup you can't help going over the CDR cap. I guess that's inevitable?

I love this guide! Thank you!

Yesterday we fought against burst AP and CC team and I went EoW, Mobility shoes, Banshee, Solari, Zhonya and solari. Their ADC wasn't really strong so I went heavy MR build. I ended up having most kill and least death lol

Personally, I don't find Morgana that strong right now. Too many tanky, mobile targets and other supports who mess up with her kit. I.e. Taric can completely turn around her engage attempt by countering any followup to her ultimate with his.

She's a good niche tho. And obviously one of the scarier supports the lower you venture in the ladder.

She has to go 100% tanky to be on par with them. I go Zhonya, EoW, Merc shoes, Banshee, Mikael, and solari.

I'm a huge fan of your ides on here and I was wondering what do you think of eye of the watcher instead of frost queen
1
Emi (218) | June 5, 2016 4:11pm
Much like Northern said, I think it's situational. Personally, I prefer the more aggressive playstyle that comes with Frost Queen's, since it's easier to scout around and get picks with the ghosts' slow.

Unless you're playing in LCS, I'd call situational on that one. The Eye + Locket rush can be very strong against certain team compositions, and Eye of Watchers is better late game than Ruby Sightstone. But Frost Queen synergises really well with Morgana, so it's not a clear 'do per say' -situation.

All supports do some sort of magic damage, and as you scale into mid game, that damage will increase even if the support is building 0 AP. This is because the base damages scale, and in some cases (such as with Braum) the damage scales off of health, which is something many supports do indeed build. Morg's E shouldn't stop only initial magic damage + CC, it should stop all incoming magic damage + CC, and over time, the flimsy 70 health shield won't hold up to a full round of Leona or Thresh's combo. I can include the math, if you'd like :)

Not to mention, Black Shield has a lower and lower cooldown with each rank, whereas Tormented Shadow remains constant. This means that once you max out your E, it will have a 34.78% lower cooldown than at rank 1 (math: (23 sec - 15 sec) / (23 sec total)). This is in directly contrast with a maxed out W, which will have a 0% lower cooldown than at rank 1 (math: (10 sec - 10 sec) / (10 sec total).

In addition, Morg's W is primarily a pushing/farming tool — NOT a damage one. As a support, your priority will always be utility, because damage is nothing more than a luxury. Morg's W will only be effective so long as the target is on top of it, and many ADCs already have a blink/dash to get off of it within a second or two. In the off case where they don't, they still have their summoner spells to increase their movement speed ( Heal) or blink off ( Flash). This decreases the efficiency of W drastically, especially since you won't have any major AP items until mid game anyway, and that's only if you decide to go with the AP/Damage build path. Plus, those mid game AP items (if you decide to build them) won't even help the scaling of W very much, since it only has an 11% AP ratio, vs Black Shield's 70%.

Further decreasing the efficiency is the high mana cost. The cost nearly doubles from 70 mana to 130 mana with very little damage trade-off, and early game you don't want to burn through your mana pool too quickly, lest you not have any left for incoming ganks or all-in engages.

I totally agree. I found that W's mana efficiency is horrible compared to Q when you go support.

Purplemen101 | April 22, 2016 5:47am
I still don't get why you would max your E over W. Maybe I can understand keeping them on-par in level, but never OVER W. I get the shield is nice, but with a strong ADC like Draven or Jhin, the W can get off most if not all ticks of damage. I guess if your Morg build was more AP heavy and didn't rely on base damage, but I'm still skeptical.

This is a really good Morg sup article.

I tried this today and we won even though we looked like losing. Very useful when you have to protect assassin champs like katarina.
