Last Whisper provides a huge damage boost for this build. This is because there is zero armor penetration until you get LW. Not many people realize this, but LW gives your ultimate the armor penetration it needs as it is also physical damage.
need more tanky items
randiuns + fon are good choices
guardian angle good
upvoted anyway because trinity is bad.
@python: The playstyle for this build is simple. An off-tank's purpose is to disrupt and buy your team time by being in the front line of the fight. Your priority should be defending your team, not diving into the enemy team. Frozen Mallet plays a large part in this by slowing enemies that try to get in on your team as well as making you really tanky. It almost doesn't even matter who you target(since you will be able to kill them, true damage) as long as you are able to keep your team's front line strong and solid. You are also responsible for being an initiator, so you will need to be able to pick the right fights.
This is how Wickd builds Irelia. I'm trying it out to see if I can make it work, but I'm unsure if this build only works for someone of very high Elo using advanced techniques.
I haven't done much experimenting with this yet, but it seems like this build is for tankier sustained damage while the Trinity Force build is more bursty and less tanky. Also, this build definitely makes the laning phase a thousand times easier!
I know you say this guide is for the build, not how to play. But doesn't this build demand a different playstyle than the typical Trinity Force build? It would be very nice if you could give some tips on how to change your playstyle when you use this build.
P.S. i did try the build so dont accuse me of not doing so pls
@Grogolog: 1.3 attack speed with 75 true damage is a huge reason to focus someone.
@ConMasterFlash: Mallet + Atma's + LW is around at least 200 AD. If you have a Wit's End along with it, add your Hiten Style and you are dealing guaranteed 300+ damage per auto attack against everyone.
i voted good.
