Introduction

As you may know from the title, this is a general guide to The Twisted Treeline 3v3 map in League of Legends. This guide will walk you through general strategies that you can use as well as how to counter certain types of champions that you may encounter during your play. I am by no means a professional player nor am I what you would call "Platinum or Diamond" but I play three's often and I'm here to share my knowledge with you!

How to Choose Your Champion

Three's are very fast paced and one wrong move can mean the game for you the longer the game goes on. You need to pick champions that have some of these characteristics and play styles:
Mobility - Navigating the map faster than your opponent
Sustain - Being able to hold your own when a fight breaks out
Escape - Your "Plan B" for when things go bad (And they will)
AoE - The more targets hit, the better
Beef - If they can dish it, you can take it

Some champions you will find have little or none of these and they still work well, it all depends on how you are playing as well as how coordinated your team is.

Notable Champions

    Nidalee (AD / Bruiser)
    Jarvan

Countering with Items (Specific to The Twisted Treeline)

Stealth

    Lightbringer
    Hextech Sweeper
Both have an active that puts down a stealth detecting mist for 10 seconds in an area. It is about half the area a ward would cover, but it is the closest thing you will get to one. They also will passively reveal stealth'd units, but at about half the distance of an oracles. Effective for what they do though.

Tanks / Bruisers

    Blade of the Ruined King
    Blackfire Torch
Depending on who you are you may want to get one.

Blade of the Ruined King

Does damage based on a percentage of the targets CURRENT health, and heals you for the same amount. Also has an active that will do damage to target opponent, healing you for the same amount, while also slowing the target.

Blackfire Torch

This item makes a sneaky Teemo dominate the map. The does a percentage of the targets MAXIMUM HP every second for 3 SECONDS. So if you have an ability that does overtime damage, the torch with reset its countdown timer every tick. Very good on some ability power champions.

Strategies and Pictures

This image shows you two locations that you can flash to get away from enemies

This shows you where you wont have vision when on an altar. Watch out!

This is how to gank your opponent in bottom lane. Pick a red X and two green arrows pointing at it and follow them to victory!

Follow this path if you are in top and need to escape. Take any of the side arrows to avoid being trapped in the spider pit!

Altars

Altars are an important thing to have in The Twisted Treeline. They give bonus gold on killing minions and if you control both you get a 10% boost to Attack Damage and Ability Power.

DO NOT LET YOUR OPPONENT HAVE BOTH

This can mean the end of you as the game goes on. Altars are almost as important in Three's as destroying Towers/Turrets.

It's end game and you just dont have what it takes to destroy their base and push to victory, now what?
