My question is why do you prefer ancient coin over relic shield? And let me explain my thoughts.
1st of all i understand it helps you reach an earlier 45% cdr but 35% wouldn't be too much loss either and there are many items to let u get 45% cdr later (for example it could be replenished with a frozen heart upgrade of glacial shroud instead of zeke's harbringer). I tried the ancient coin build some times but i found my self less tanky and i ended up losing trades when i was trying q-e-aa combo with some follow up of my adc, except when we were fully synchronized. I couldn't tank them enought time to make them use some of their cds because they could kill me fast with just autoatacks. Also with relic shield i help my adc stay healthy more time at lane and helping not losing some cs that it would. Surely later i can't really get many last hits though. I also noticed that by focusing on getting talisman of ascension i am really squishy and i can just stay near my adc and never engage in situations that is not 1v1 or 2v2 (only when the 2nd enemy is the support) but i suppose your build order covers this by getting other "small" items that make you tankier before you actually close the talisman. I would like to see your opinion about the pros/cons of relic shield in comparison with ancient coin and tell me what do you believe about the viability and the situations you would prefer to go with relic shield if any.
Thank you in regards,
VampBlazer
Why take coin over relic shield? I feel that thresh is not meant to be a tank. Yes, it some situations it is better to be a tank and if your team needs one I would finish coin last. I aim for 45% cdr instead of 35% early because when you reach level 9 your hook will be on a 3 sec cd if you hit it and around 5-6 sec cd if you miss. This means more hooks and the ability to catch several people out during a teamfight.
Another problem with running relic every game is that there are shorter games and there are longer games. Shorter games give you less gold to work with and this build is very cost effective. Longer games I would probably get relic instead of the coin upgrade. Only if I really need it.
With coin I would suggest an early all in level 2 or 3 when you have flay and hook up. Don't try to hook and flay unless you are semi healthy or you risk getting poked out of the lane. For me, I would say that the q e aa combo is enough damage if you are running the same runes because your adc should be doing most of the damage. If you don't hit the hook you lose a lot of damage and time for your adc to hit free aas. With coin, you do need to be more careful of positioning and how much damage you take as poke. It is the risk/reward factor of playing that style.
Just a quick comment on getting frozen heart over zekes: The reason I buy zekes instead of gettting frozen heart is that the passive of zekes amplifies your damage and the adc's damage. If you have an adc like ezreal that does not build crit, they do even more than they look like they normally do.
Fighting 2v2's and 3v3's: I would suggest having vision at all times around where you will be fighting. If you know you can fight and that your adc is even or stronger then the other team's, you can walk up and flay the adc. (Depending on the support.) If you can't do that, then just try to hit a hook in the brush or in the fog of war to throw them off guard. With coin I would say that if you can't hit the hook then back away from the fight. This will hopefully prevent you from losing 2v2's. If your adc gets engaged on, you should flay the support or adc and then look for a hook. If you have to hold hook to wait for an adc to step up or go too aggro, that is fine.
Relic Shield Pro/Con list:
Pros:
Gives your adc gold for minions they might miss
Tankier stats (Health for the most part)
When upgraded gives a shield
Less gold then coin upgrade (300)
Cons:
No cdr at level 1
Might run out of mana
Gives less gold total in a game. (I average about 1000 gold from coin and normally 800 from relic due to the cs being harder to get late game)
Ancient Coin Pro List:
5% Cdr level 1
Mana regen
Final active cd on the item is better for kiting
Gives armor instead of flat health
Don't need to worry about csing or missing caddies (That was my worst part when I used relic before the change.)
When I would go relic:
I would normally go relic against a blitz and maybe a nautilus. You want to survive getting pulled by a blitz and relic gives you better odds. Karma would be a champ that I would run relic on if I felt like I couldn't dodge the q's. Karma would normally just poke out of lane. Any other tanky support like leona, braum, alistar or taric. (Preference in those lanes.)
When I would go coin:
I would go coin against any squishy support. (Sona, Soraka, Zyra, Morgana, zilean, and on...)
My one exception, is that against a "kill" botlane I would decide my chances of living. A "kill" botlane is when the enemy has a normal or maybe unusual adc and a damage support like lee sin, rengar or others that you might run into at low elo.
Hope this helps!

Keep it up m8, good job!
some random formalities,

Thanks man,

If you get poked really hard try to play less aggro or only trade/look for hooks when you are healthy and have mana. Don't try to trade level 1 and wait for the level 2 all in.
Hunterspotion and refillable pot are not as good as biscuits. Hunterspotion will make it so you can't but coin and refillable heals less than 3 biscuits. If you need it after first back go ahead and buy it. It will just slow your progress to 45% cdr.
Thunderlords is a great mastery for thresh because:
1. It allows you to reach 45% cdr and gives 5% cdr
2. It allows you to trade effectively and gives good kill pressure.
The tanky mastery (Bond of Stone) gives you and allies reduced damage taken but I feel that thresh is not that good as a tank. His main reason is to provide peel and to cc enemies. Unless you are really ahead I wouldn't suggest being the main one to always engage. This will leave your carries unprotected.
Well i just got used to the hook. But i lost 2 rankeds with him :(
My ADC was 9/1 but then the Botlanepartys startet and the more Feedet lux just oneshot my ADC with 1 Combo :/
He is fun to play and strong, but how can i defend my ADc when 4 Guys focusing him? I mean i just can grap 1 Person, maybe theyr matchup was just stronger...
I will doo my best !
I Startet to play Thresh 3 days ago.
Is it a try worth to buy the Hunterspotion instead of the biscuis?
Cause i get rly hard poked in early... So i need more potion :/
And why are you using thunderlord? Isnt the Tanky Mastery wurth?
