Releasing an unfinished guide may result in quite a number of down votes. If you wanted to show your friend, you publish the guide then archive it. It would still be there but nobody would be able to vote on it and it won't display publicly, just give your friend the link. And then, when you're done with the guide you could just publish it again. :)

Hey, I posted the Guide because my friend wanted to see it. I see your concerns but it'll only take me up to a day to pretty much finish it.
