Sylas will wreck your shit with the build and runes of this guide.
I ban him every game.
Here is why:
1) You cant delete him... He generally builds semi tanky & has a super fat heal that .. he will get off.
2) He is more mobile. One of Akali's biggest strengths is how mobile she is. It enrages the enemy how much you move about the battlefield. It does not enrage Sylas. In fact he benefits from it. If we were just comparing stats they would match in mobility. Unfortunately, this isn't clear cut because he can steal your fucking ultimate. This is a huge boost on how mobile he is and for an enemy to have more mobility than you with this build is devastating.
3) You are not a tank and he has several point & click abilities. So between the fact he wont miss and he will catch you, you're fucked.
4) You can't hide. His abilities have a fairly big hit box and his passive gives him aoe autos. If you shroud, likelihood is he will still hit you.
5) It isnt just you who will get fucked. Even if you play safe and never let him get you, he will steal your ult and roam bot lane. A Sylas with Akali's ult is deadly and your bot lane will most likely get dunked. Then he will come back with extra gold (IE extra items, IE extra damage) and dunk your butt.
IF! By some dumb fuck reason you choose not to ban him and he is your enemy in lane here is what you gotta do:
1st) Ping the hell out of the map when he roams... Be a good teammate and dont let him dunk bot lane.
2nd) In lane, you have to engage on him first! But that isnt enough!... You have to engage on him first after he has blown his abilities on the minion wave. Again, and Again, and Again! You abuse the hell out of him when he has less abilities and you fucking dip out before he gets them back up. Do that enough and you might be able to pull out a win.
Lee Sin
Okay so Lee Sin isn't worth your ban but he can be a problem. He has an aoe ground smack that gives him *True Sight* on anything it hits. If he lands that on you as you shroud you are deep in shit.
Don't despair though, the counter is really simple just .. not so easy. Don't let him land his Q. If he cant land his Q he isn't more mobile than you. That's really what it boils down to. Can you dodge the Q!?
Anivia
Anivia is a bitch. Lets just get that out of the way. Your main problem is her passive. You basically have to kill her twice which is hard for Akali early level because we lose all our energy pretty fast. By the time you kill her and activate her passive you will be dry on energy. This becomes much less of a problem after you get Sheen.
Here is what I suggest:
Option 1: Let her push. Lure her into a false sense of confidence. Most Anivias are happy to play like a coward until level 10. That is not what we want. If you can get her to push in you have a lot more room to chase her during your engage.
2) Same tactic but call for your jungler. Be sure to lead unless your jungler is mobile like Master Yi. Generally you stand a better chance of avoiding her stun than your jungler and if he cant get in it probably wont work.
Zed
Zed is a threat for two reasons:
1) It really comes down to who is better. You are both mobile, high damage, and squishy. Whoever can outplay who wins.
Here's a tip to help you do just that. First of all, bait out his abilities as best you can. Engage on him when he doesn't have his shadow. Secondly, I know... I know it is tempting but you have to save your shroud for when he ults you. His ult does bonus damage the more he can hit you after he casts it. When he ults and disappears, hold. Right as he pops back up you shroud and just play like a bitch. Dodge, Evade, be an epic bitch player until it his ult pops. Then reengage.
2) He isnt just a threat to you but your bot lane too. He has better roam pre-six than you do. If he goes bot lane, gets a double kill, and buys. He will start beating you. Cant let that happen. Have your bot lane ward up hard and be liberal with your pings. If he leaves, even for a second, ping it.
Bonus: The best outcome you can hope for is he tries to roam and his roam flops... He waists time and falls behind you in lane and cs. That will give you a nice slight edge in fights.
Yone
Yone is a decent match for you. He is also mobile and can dish out some big boy damage. Key to beating him is three fold.
1) You gotta dodge his ult. Ya just do.
2) Abuse the fact that his E will pull him back to a predicable location. Unlike you, who can be very mobile and hard to predict, he is very mobile but very easy to predict. Play evasively when he tries to engage and then counter engage him. I find that works better than engaging first. Don't worry, he is a Yone, he will engage. He is greedy.
3) Use your E to counter his tornado Q. Again, its pretty easy to predict his movements. When he has tornado he will E to get close and then Q (hoping to knock you up and land a W then reactivate his E to dip out, winning the trade) but we wont let that work. When he Q's to tornado knock you up E to dodge it. Then when he reactivates E you can follow with your reactivated E.
Note: Just like Zed he will want to roam bot if he isn't getting anywhere mid. Communicate with your team if he leaves! Have them ward up hard. Maybe drop a control ward in their tri bush to be nice.
Aurelion Sol
He is dangerous to Akali for two reasons.
1) His ult can knock you back if you are not careful and then he will kite you to death.
2) His stun is big and hard to dodge but if you can do it he isn't dangerous.
3) This isnt really a big problem but it is worth noting that his stars can really put in some good damage to you if he is smart. Your shroud wont save you from that. So just make sure your positioning is on point!
Corki
Dollar to Dollar Corki has the edge on you. He has an aoe spray ability that can hit you easy in your shroud and a long as poke that gives him true vision on you. So he can really abuse you and your shroud. The key to beating Corki is to stop thinking about your shroud the way you usually do. It isnt a safe haven for you anymore. What it is now is a boost in energy. You pop it when you are out of energy so you can keep dishing out damage. Corki may feel like a big threat but he is still just a marksmen. He will die just like the rest of them when you bust his ass.
Vladimir
You run into the same problem you have with Anivia as you do with Vlad. He is happy to play like a bitch and it's hard to dive him. But unless you do something stupid you aren't in much danger.
If you can bait out his pool or get some cc from a gank from your team you might nab him.
Azir
Azir is tricky. He has good mobility and good range. You really just have to be better. No special tips. Out mobility him. Out play him.
You have better roam than he does so maybe consider scooping up a kill or two bot lane and come back with extra damage.
Note: He has better damage level 2. Just don't pick that fight.
Annie
Here is the thing about Annie. You can easily dominate her in lane. Or.... You could let her hand your ass to you. Her biggest threat is that she has 2 aoe abilities that can pretty easily hit you when you shroud. If you can avoid her Ult stun combo and time your engages for when she blows her stun you will destroy her. She is super squish so it wont be difficult. It is only a problem if you dive and she has her stun and abilities up because... you are also squish.
Get some kills under your belt and she will be free food all game.
Brand
Brand has some heavy damage and a great aoe ability. If you let him land it he will win trades.
On the other hand, he is super squish. If you can manage to dodge his shit and then get on him he has no backup plan. He is fucked! Royally!
Engage after he uses his aoe. The more mobile you can be while fighting him the better.
Yasuo
Some might argue with me that "Yasuo counters Akali" or "He is broken and is always a threat" but fuck that! We put Yasuos in their fucking place!
1) You are more mobile than him in lane (and especially out of lane). If you can lure him in the jungle he doesn't stand a chance.
2) Your E is perfect for taking down his shield passive. When you land it... Chill for a second. Wait for his shield to fade then go in. Furthermore, if he decides to dive you thinking he is gonna land a knock-up / ult combo just flip back with your E. You dodge his tornado and then engage on him when he is as far as he can get from having his knock-up back up.
3) You might be thinking "But what about his windwall? It will block my Q and my E!" Yeah sure... It does but Yasuos are bitches and are eager to use their windwall. YOU! On the other hand are patient. His wind wall cant block your ult. So when you land your E on him and reactivate it to engage dont blow your Q so quick. He will toss up windwall and you can ult past it. Drop shroud and now we dance! He will probably try to step back on the other side of the wall now and thats fine. It will be gone soon and you got time. Out position him. In and out with your Check Marks and finish with your second cast ult. Easy.
4) Did you think I was done? Nope! So long as you arent an idiot and dont let him ult you when you are already almost dead you have a get out of jail free card! When he ults he is gonna be looking to use the bonus damage it gives him for the next few seconds to auto you to death. Just fuckin shroud and dance around him. You dont even have to attack. Once the shroud is up re-engage if you have the HP. If you dont, dip out.
Jhin
We love it when the enemy locks in Jhin as an adc. It is free kills for you! He has no escape and you can burst his ass to the afterlife like he was a balloon. Just dodge his Q. It isnt hard to do. Even if you dont, you'll probably still get him.
Ryze
Levels 1-5 he might... might stand a chance. Once you have ult he is hopelessly outmatched. He has shit mobility in comparison to you and he is squishy. Anytime he is remotely pushed in or out of position dive him. Abuse him like free gold he is.
Vel'Koz
Okay. This match up is simple. You get on him and he is fucked! Bonus points if you can get on him after he blows his abilities and is on cooldown. Vel'Koz has no escape and can easily be bursted to the grave. Don't let him abuse you with his poke.
Alistar
We love heavy cc supports like Alistar & Leona! Perfect champions to engage and setup kills when you roam bot lane! They have great and fast engage! They can take tons of damage without a problem! and they provide plenty cc on the enemy to let you dish out tons of damage! I have never not gotten a kill from a roam bot lane with any Alistar worth their salt.
Bonus: You aren't in any real danger of them stealing your kills. If they do it's on you...
Leona
We love heavy cc supports like Leona & Alistar! Perfect champions to engage and setup kills when you roam bot lane! They have great and fast engage! They can take tons of damage without a problem! and they provide plenty cc on the enemy to let you dish out tons of damage! I have never not gotten a kill from a roam bot lane with any Leona worth her salt.
Bonus: You aren't in any real danger of them stealing your kills. If they do it's on you...
Amumu
Amumu is a great jungler to have on your team as Akali for three reasons:
1) He provides great cc for when he ganks! Couple good ganks, couple of kills under your belt, and the game is as good as won.
2) He has great engage and cc mid game for team fights! Lets you really pick off the enemies in team fights!
3) Come late game he becomes a threat of his own and draws attention away from you! When he engages the enemy panics and is usually cc'ed. Allowing you to more easily dive the backline and maneuver around the enemy picking off their carry!
Urgot
We love Urgot for a very simple reason. He gets in the enemies face! He cant be ignored! This allows you to more freely dive the enemy backline during team fights! The enemy either has to focus you in which case Urgot will destroy them or they have to deal with Urgot in which case you will kill their backline carries.
Ivern
Originally I hated having Ivern as my jungler as Akali but that was just because I had bad Iverns! Here is why he rules as a jungler for you!
1) He has great cc! I know.. Its really only the Q but his shield also slows them when it blows up and that Q lets you close the gap on the enemy real quick! Plus if he is dropping that shield on you like he should be that's more sustain in the fights!
2) Free red buffs! Fuck the adc, you take that shit! Put it to good use both mid and bot lane!
3) Daisy really gets up in the enemies face late game. Drawing attention and pressure off of you when you dive the backline!
Hecarim
Hecarim is a good match because of his insane gank potential! He comes in fast and he comes in hard! Most enemy laners don't have the mobility to avoid his ganks! If he ganks and pushes them toward your base it makes it super easy for you to follow engage!
Veigar
Simple. His stun wall is super disruptive during team fights! You are already hard to hit during team fights and now the enemy has to worry about not walking into a giant stun wall! Its hilarious!
Renekton
Has good cc and pressure for mid / late game team fights.
Jarvan IV
Has high gank potential with pretty good cc. Easy follow for you in lane!
In team fights, he is disruptive, tanky, and cc's the enemy. We capitalize on that!
Jax
Good at ganking but he wants the kills... and unfortunately kinda needs them. So you compete for the kills.
Lacks the dominating presence during team fights that Renekton and Urgot have! But he does have some good tank and cc so it isnt super bad.
Zac
If he will fucking gank more early game and mid you can really get ahead! He has a great dive cc ability for ganking! Zac usually though are scared! They underestimate how much damage you do early game and generally think that you wont kill the enemy they gank before they kill him. Prove him wrong.
Warwick
Warwick should get every fucking drake. If he doesn't he is failing you and everyone else! So assuming he doesn't suck you have the edge because of the dragon buffs.
On top of that he has some cc and decent damage.
Best synergies with you if he builds more tanky and lets you have kills.
Yuumi
So... Not what we prefer to have as our team support. Obviously Alistar and Leona are far superior but this does have its upside!
When she hops on you she is safe in your shroud just like you! When you disappear so does she! So be good and your maneuverability. On top of that the bonus AP you get is nothing to scoff at.
But most importantly is that heal! Not because of the heal itself but because it also speeds you up! You are already mobile... anything to boost that mobility is sick!
Nocturne
On the upside you both have high dive potential and opposite damage types!
On the downside, the enemy team only really has to counter one style of team fights... the backline dive. If they can peel well enough you lose team fights and you lose games.
Master Yi
Master Yi is about the worst jungler you can ask for as Akali.
Three reasons:
1) He provides zero cc.
2) You compete for kills and if he doesn't get them he is useless late game.
3) He will probably want to power farm. Which means no ganks for you when they really make a difference.
Evelynn
Evelynn is actually the worst jungler you can ask for as Akali.
Five reasons:
1) You compete for kills and if she doesn't get them she is useless.
2) Her gank potential is shit pre level 6 which is when you benefit most from ganks!
3) You are both AP Assassins. Even if you both do well the enemy only need build Magic Resist to counter you both.
4) Late game you have the same fight style. You want to pick off the squishies. If both of you are playing the edge looking for the pick the actual team fight is 3 v 5 at the start and your team will lose.
5) Evelynn benefits from having a laner who has cc so she has time to get off her charm. You don't have that so any time she starts her charm for a gank its like yelling "HEY! WE ARE ABOUT TO ENGAGE! YOU SHOULD BACKUP TO TURRET!". It doesn't work.

Look... **** what everyone thinks or says... This is the best way to build and, more importantly, play Akali! (It's just more fun! ... but also stronger...).
This build focuses on dealing burst damage and dancing around your enemies!
You're gonna piss off a lot of carries because you put them in the grave and a lot of tanks because they cant hit you!
