Udyr[TANK/DPS]Solo King Guide;

Throughout this guide i will go into depth of how to utilize Udyr to his best. This will be achieved by maximizing his survival and DPS output.

What is Udyr
In my eyes Udyr can be a variety of things ranging from either a tank/dps/support.

Turtle Stance - Tank/Support
Bear Stance - DPS/Support
Tiger Stance - DPS
Phoenix Stance - DPS

In this Guide we want to try to combine all skills for a certain purpose.

Turtle Stance - Mass regen/Absorbing Damage/Laning Forever
Bear Stance - Harass/Ganking/Farming
Tiger Stance - DPS/Mass Damage Output
Phoenix Stance - DPS/Creep Wave Farming

Udyrs Skills and Reasoning

Monkey Agility:
Entering a stance grants Udyr 10% attack speed and 3% dodge for 5 seconds. This effect can stack.

This is Udyrs Passive Ability and is an awesome one at that, it can stack up to 3 times! giving 30% AS and 9% Dodge, this is done by spamming stances and with the 36% cooldown reduction it basically means every 4sec we can pop a new stance making it alot easier to keep the passive running.

Turtle Stance:
Activation: Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+50% of ability power) damage.

Persistent Effect: Udyr's attacks cannot crit, but he restores 12 / 14 / 16 / 18 / 20% of his damage as health and 9 / 10.5 / 12 / 13.5 / 15% of his damage as mana.

Cooldown 6 seconds | Cost 75 / 65 / 55 / 45 / 35 mana | Range 600

This is your main regen/tanking skill, it will provide a temporary sheild absorbing all damage, you cannot crit in this stance although every bit of damage you deal converts into health/mana regeneration. This will help you outlane your opponent quite easily.

Bear Stance:
Activation: Udyr gains 15 / 18 / 21 / 24 / 27% increased movement speed for 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 seconds.

Persistent Effect: Udyr mauls his target with such force that they are stunned for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for 6 seconds.

Cooldown 6 seconds | Cost 75 / 65 / 55 / 45 / 35 mana | Range 600

This is your main harrasing/intiating skill, it provides a short burst of speed and a mini stun which will help when intiating ganks. This combined with tiger stance and frozen mallet can cause insane chasing.

Tiger Stance:
Activation: On his next attack, Udyr swipes at his target, dealing 1.8 / 2.1 / 2.4 / 2.7 / 3 times his attack damage over 2 seconds.

Persistent Effect: Udyr's attack speed is increased by 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70%. In addition, Udyr splits his attacks into 3 lightning fast hits. On hit effects only trigger off the first hit.

Cooldown 6 seconds | Cost 75 / 65 / 55 / 45 / 35 mana | Range 600

It seems tiger stance has become neglected when compared to phoenix stance but dont be fooled, phoenix strike can cause a small burst in aoe which only really helps kill creep waves, when using tiger stance you attack speed is increased by 70% and your first hit is 3x Damage which is insane when combined with the bear stance mini stun(just repeat)

Phoenix Stance:
Activation: Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing 15 / 25 / 35 (+25% of ability power) magic damage each second to nearby enemies for 5 seconds. In addition, Udyr's ability power is increased by 16 / 24 / 32 and his attack damage is increased by half of that amount.

Persistent Effect: Every fourth attack, Udyr engulfs enemies in front of him in flame, dealing 40 / 80 / 120 (+25% of ability power) magic damage.

Cooldown 6 seconds | Cost 75 / 65 / 55 mana | Range 600

This will be your main creep wave killing, used primarily for farming up hard, although onl 1 point early on its still useful for taking down the mobs and earning the extra gold.

Pros & Cons of playing Udyr

    Amazing all rounded hero.
Can either solo or lane with another.
Produce good dps while sustaining a strong tanking form.
    Constant CC/Good Chaser/Burst Damage
    Good neutraller

    Hard to play
    Item dependant
    Quite weak early game

Summoner Spells:

Cleanse - Cleanse would have to be my favourite spell, now with the patch cleanse removes all blinds/slows which totally destroys exhaust. This is also mainly used when someone trys to CC you, pop cleanse to coninue to keep your passive running. Also Cleanse can be used to escape a gank/continue fighting etc.

Ghost - Also another great spell, this is so important for not only ganking people but combined with cleanse it can literally save you from a gank, or otherwise help you gank the enemy.

Alternative Spells:
Exhaust - I tossed up between exhaust or ghost personally i love ghost but everybody is different.
Flash - Also another good one for ganking/escaping.

Bad Spells for udyr:
Heal - Near end of your build udyr will have over 3k hp and 500 will not be worth it.
Clarity - udyr only has around 800mana near end game with the regen from turtle its best to pick a more usefull spell.

Core Items:

Why these items??

Ninja Tabi = Speed/Dodge, Easier for you to tank/Survival
GhostBlade = Damage/Crit/Armor Penetration/Cooldown Reduction, Everthing we need in one
Frozen Mallet = Health/Damage/Chasing Passive, Best item for chasing perma slow, good +700hp and +20damage
Randius Omen = Health/Armor/HP regen/Cooldown Reduction, Good tank/Need i say more?
Bloodthirster = Strong damage and lifesteal = just makes our crit/armor pen even stronger
Phantom = Crit/Dodge/Damage/Speed = GG

Start by buying a ruby crystal, this will help start your phage which we will want to get quite early for ganking purposes.

After ruby crystal you, it will really depend on if you can hold your lane or have to go back and heal, considering you have your Turtle Stance you should be good, hopefully you've got enough gold to finish your phageif not just pick up your ninja tabi boots
After getting your phage and ninja tabi boots we want to quickly get the ghostblade.

After this finish of the frozen malletnow your ready for ganking!! continue to farm everywhere you can but keep and eye out for your enemys just pop bear hit/stun/slow pop tiger boom boom! continue to repeat.

It'll be around 30mins now everybody will be stacking hard DPS so we will want to get Randius Omennow you will be a beast tank!!

Now its time to stack dps pick up a bloodthirsterwhich will eventually give you +100damage and +25% lifesteal.

Finish off with a phantomthis will just round off everything giving you good crit/speed/damage/dodge and ultimately make you unstoppable!

Spec 0/22/8
Iv'e Chosen a defensive/utility build for udyr purely based on how well they utilize udyr to the best he can be.

Basically started by maxing all the defences such as magic/armor/block/dodge just for increase tanking, moved up to the +60hp which is hepful at start and then getting the increased AS/AP which helps every stance! finally cant go wrong with the 4% overall dmg reduction.

I decided to take the utility over offensive since udyr does need abit of regeneration early on and the spec gives it, also the +5% experience will definately beneifit.

Majority of the build is based upon damage item skills such as
    Armor Penetration
    Critical Strike
    Cooldown Reduction

This is why i chose a defensive spec to counteract and make udyr just strong in every aspect.

Thanks for reading hope you've learnt abit more about Udyr, will add more later on about laning against enemys.
