Welcome to my first guide ever about Varus,the arrow of retribution!
Currently i am a diamond player from both East and West. I recently switched to Ad carry and been maining Varus and Draven.
This guide will take you a bit deeper in the understanding of such a understimated ad carry like Varus.
So sit back and enjoy the ride!

PROS
-He got one of the strongest laning phases if well played!
-His mid game is one of the best of all the ad carry's!
-His ult synergies well with aoe cc ults
-His W is uber strong
-He's more of an assassin ad thanks to his burst,but after his passive is popped he becomes a hyper carry.
-He's super cool!
-Varus is a snowballing type-champion in a teamfight, as soon as the first person dies that you were apart of is where he becomes one of the best AD carries in the game, that attack speed passive is an amazing skill for any AD carry.
CONS
-No escape
-He becomes a hyper carry ONLY if his passive pops and still, compared to other hyper carries he is kind of weak.
-Long cooldowns on his burst spells(Q,E)
-His movement animation suckz after riot changed it.

As for masteries i use 2-3 types depending on the match up i am against.
The standard one while using ignite i use in 90% of solo q games and 70% of premade team games are :

Now the runes.
The runes are a really important factor on the lane. It depends on what are u most confortable with and also it depends on the match up u are facing.
For example:
If im facing Sona+Ez im taking flat magic resist glyphs instead of the per level ones so i can survive the laning against them.
While facing Graves+Taric which is nearly 0 magic dmg i dont need the flat magic resist so i take the per level ones and focus on having the magic resist in the later phase of the game.
There is a little exception when facing Taric when i change my 3 physical marks to armor pen marks.Why? Cuz he's armor iz op!

So!
My standard item build looks like this: Always start with the boots and pots. Then u want to get some dmg so the 2x Doran's Blade should be okay.
Why not Infinity's Edge over Bloodthirster ? Because since Varus has no escapes and alot of enemy champs will jump on u since they know u cant run anywhere u need to survive somehow. Also its because the spells scales out of Attack damage which Bloodthirster provides.
Sometimes if you are really really ahead you can get Guardian's Angel after Bloodthirster and The Phantom Dancer before going into the [[The Last Whisper].

When playing Varus its important to consider what your first spell gonna be.
Varus is really fun to play with as a hero because he has so many options that other ad carry's doesnt have.
At lvl 1 i usually get my E vs a burst champ or W against an autoA champ(Vayne,Kog,Draven).
I max W first,then E,Q last and grab my ult at 6,11,16.

Of all the summoner spells avaiable i think Flash+ Ignite is the best combination.
SInce varus is a burst champ on lane he need that ignite.
Somtimes i run Heal instead of Ignite or even Cleanse if a see a hard burst enemy team comp or cc team comp.
I dont think other summoners should be considered on Varus.

Varus is really hard to play in solo queue. Opponents know that you have no escape so they will focus you really hard. They will camp your lane alot so the best thing to do is just have strong nerves and overcome the laning phase.
Mid game is when Varus shines. His dmg trough his burst/w can oneshot nearly anybody.

The most important thing of all the things that ad players must know.
Since Varus have no escape you need to maintain an awesome positioning. How to achieve that?
Try to stay away of all the dangerous threats and hit the enemy team from a save position.
If someone jumps on u like Jax,Irelia,Shyvana,then tell your supp to exhaust him or use ULTI+ Hail of Arrows on top of them.
Dont ever forget about your positioning! EVER!EVER!EVER!

Since varus have a W that deals damage based on % hp he is especially good at rushing Dragon or Nashor.
Dont be afraid to tell your jungler to rush dragon when the opposing bot lane goes back.
ALWAYS steal kills with your Q! Ur an ad carry,which means u need farm and kills so dont be afraid to steal kills.
When the opposing AD carry is ahead of you,you can farm from a long range with your Q or E.
Never dive in after any AP carry or AD carry in any given teamfight, always let them come to you or attack the closest thing next to you.... you don't want to be put into a bad position where the enemy team can turn on you and gib you instantly, that's what they want you to do.

Good supps
Any offensive support. Varus need an aggresive supp like Taric, Leona, Alistair,but can be played with defensive supps too like Janna.
Personally i love Varus+ Lulu. The poke they got is just awesome. Since my support mains Lulu i learned to play mostly with her.
Also i think Varus+ Zyra will be one of the strongest Bot lanes in Season 3. Ive tried that lane many times and i kept on winning hard.
