About Veigar

Veigar is a champion that, if played right, can easily make or break team fights. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in burst damage. He's an excellent pusher, nuker, and farmer with an excellent stun thrown in.

Due to Veigar's passive, you are free to harass a fair amount with your Baleful Strike and still have enough mana to save yourself of dire situations such as ganks.

Veigar doesn't have much health, so make sure that you are never at the front lines of team fights or that you are over extending yourself past minions to hopefully get that last hit -- You are never sure what could be waiting in the bushes.

Why I pick those items

Well as it says, you should try to buy Tear of The Goddess and some health potion to make you survive, and let your mana stay longer. After a some good shoes, mana and mana regen, its time to buy some damage, we start with Mejai's Soulstealer because of its better to have at the start. But after we have learned every spells, we see we really need some more mana, but at the same time more AP. Well Archangel's Staff is the perfect item for both mana and AP. Lich Bane is almost perfect for a guy like Veigar, after the stun you hit the target for all your AP and its the only item Veigar can use against turrent. After that you even need more AP for your spells and Lich Bane, well Zhonya's Ring gives you much AP and a ability to survive if your inside a gang fight. The last item is to make you kill more and more health and make they're unable to run away from you.

Why those spells

The reason I picked Event Horizon as your first spell is because its a chance a gang tries to kill you to get first blood, so what you do, just stun them all. Its not so important that you didn't get those little AP from Baleful Strike, because its hard to get last hit at rank 1 and its using alot of your mana at the low levels. I picked Event Horizon 2 times before I took on Dark Matter because it takes a half secound for you too use Dark Matter, so its not 1,2 secound to use, its 1,7. I dont really know if its a half secound but its near.

How to play

If possible, take middle with Veigar. You have a lane all to yourself and can last hit without worrying about a lane-partner stealing the hits. Last hitting is crucial to Veigar, due to his Baleful's unique passive ability. As you get last hits with any spell, you gain AP permanently. (1 AP for minions, 1/2/3/4/5 AP for champion kills). Considering that Baleful Strike has the lowest cooldown, it is often one of the easier spells to last hit with. Not only can you last hit and permanently boost your ability power, but you also have a fantastic AoE that, when at rank five, can one shot most minions.

TIP: If you do manage to grab middle and have seen from your team that either top or bottom any enemy heroes are there, dont be afraid to drop a Dark Matter into the bushes on either side. It acts as a small clairvoyance for about 1 second and if champions are there, you will see them before the Dark Matter hits.

Summoner spells

Teleport: Nothing better for a nuke then to be able to control the map. This allows you to jump all over the map making it perfect for getting the gank or an assist, which will help build up your stacks of Mejai's early on. Not to mention, Veigar is slow. Would you rather have him hobble the minute long jog to your allies or would you rather be able to teleport near them, drop a stun, and wreck them?

Flash: Mobility. This is helpful for Veigar because it can get you out of sticky situations, put you in range to land a successful stun or finnish one of after Baleful Strike is out of cooldown.

Other Possible Spells:

Clarity: Clarity can keep you in a lane longer than normally possible because you easily have enough mana to harass, harass, harass, harass, harass and last hit. However, with the items given, you have enough mana regen + Veigar's passive to keep you afloat with mana. Clarity's usage is more important early game, not late.

Ignite: Damage. You are a nuker, so ignite would add to your damage burst. This is true. However, it isn't necessarily needed with this build, because you will be tearing through them so much as it is. Not to mention, you have to get relatively close to use ignite on someone and as I will mention later on, its best to say in the back of team fights out of trouble. Ignite is purely user preference, however, and I wont discourage you from using it.

Exhaust: Veigar doesn't need exhaust. As you know from level 1-18 you have Event Horizon
and flash to help you out, the little tiny 10 magic resistance will you make up by buying Sorcerer's Shoes and farm AP from minions

Ghost: Mobility. I've already mentioned before that Veigar is slow, so I will admit that having a speed boost is a pretty good way to make him a bit faster and add to the survivability. But as I will mention later on in this build, you should never be at the front lines, always behind your team nuking from a far. Like Ignite, Ghost is user preference.

Why did I chose those talents

Well the reason I didnt max expendent mind is because I think that experience is more important, and at high level your will almost never use you mana up. So, no need to have extra mana.

Why those runes
Well I picked those runes because all your missing is some less cooldown on your spells, unless you got 20 stacks on Mejai's Soulstealer.
