This Character in my opinion is one of the strongest AP carries in the game. If you can last hit well with his Q your AP will climb in lane making you more of a threat without buying many items. Also he is a very good champ for ganking his stun is one of the best in the game and keep in mind when he kills a champ he gets +3 AP. So based on your last hits and kills with just 3 items Veigar can have 500+ AP making him a very strong carry and a big threat to the enemy team. Also remember he's a great AP anti-carry because his ult hits for 500+ your AP + 80% of the enemy champions AP.

I use the basic AP runes magic pen reds, AP per level yellows, AP per level blues, and flat AP quints.Most High elo players use these so there's not much i can add about runes but with this setup your spells will be strong early and help you last hit better and make you stronger in lane.

Once again i use the basic AP masteries 9-0-21 and most know what they do but at level 18 veigar will have 9% cooldown and gets an extra 15% magic penetration. With blue he will have 35% cooldown reduction and with a pot you can make it 40% making him very strong. Veigar is pretty mana hungry in the early levels so it's essential to have the points in mana regeneration.

For the first build the items i use for him I find it best because it gives a good amount of HP, magic resist and armor. With the items in the first build depending on your last hitting with Q and kills you will usually have 700+ AP with 90 magic resist and 130 armor making him strong while still not being very squishy. With the second build you will have more AP but be a little more squishy but also faster so you can escape easier. You will have once again depending on last hits with your Q and kills 800-900+ AP with 130 armor and 60 magic resist. A lot of people like to get DeathfireGrasp for Veigar granted it's a decent item for him and it gives a big extra amount of burst but that burst isn't necessary with my build he has plenty burst for almost anyone and the health and mana you get from rod of ages is a much better trade off giving you more survivability.

Starting with Q for Veigar is a basic lane start for farm and to increase your AP. If your team wants to try ganking or team fighting at level 1 I suggest grabbing your E. You wanna max your Q first for easier last hitting on minions and if your enemy decides to try to trade with you its better to have maxed than say your W. You wanna max W second but before you fully max you wanna make sure you at least have 2 E's that way you can guarantee you'll land your W making your combo very strong. The combo you can either open with your Q or E so go in Q the enemy champ if they run E then W and by this time your Q will be back up also end the combo with your ult if you have it at the time.

Again I run the usual AP summoner spells Flash to secure kills or to escape ganks and ignite to secure kills reduce healing for the champion and magic resist so your spells hit harder.

Veigar is great for farming mid game because his W can one shot mage minions but doing that you sacrifice getting +1 AP for not killing them with your Q. You want to make sure you last hit with your Q As much as possible

He isn't used often in ranked so if you're new to him just play safe last hit and wait until 6 for his big burst. Buy health pots they're very important to sustain yourself in lane and help win it.

Pro he's thee strongest AP carry in the game late game/Con he is kinda weak early game in lane but if you can pull it off you'll do fine. Mid game he is also very strong and easier to sustain lane. So if you can make it through lane phase you'll do fine.

Veigar is great with blue so ask your jungler whenever blue is up if he doesn't need it and if you can have it. Make sure you last hit minions with your Q. In mid-game you will be able to 1 shot minion waves with you W but you sacrifice gaining +1 AP for whatever minions you could have killed with your Q.

Veigar is very good for initiating fights because of his huge aoe stun and helps catch enemy champions off gaurd securing your team a kill. He is great for ganking lanes mid game because by then you should have a level 2 stun and good burst making him very strong for ganking.

Veigar is thee strongest AP carry in the game no other AP champion can hope to have as much AP as him being fully farmed because of his ability to gain +1 AP from last hitting with Q along with the ability to gain +3 AP for champion kills. He is great for ganking and catching enemy champions off gaurd with his stun cause it has good range and a huge aoe stun area. If you can manage to catch the enemy AP champion off gaurd later game with your stun you've pretty much secured a kill following up your stun with W and ult, because his ult does 500 base damage plus however much AP you have and 80% of the enemy's AP you can blow up the enemy AP champion in every fight. He also doesnt have to focus just AP champions if you cant get to the enemy AP carry don't worry he does plenty of damage to anyone. You don't wanna try suiciding into the enemy AP just to kill him because that's a waste Veigar does plenty of damage all around to any champion so just keep that in mind. This in my opinion is what makes Veigar a great champion.
