Introduction

Welcome to my Veigar Guide. Within this guide I will show you the basics of Veigar, what items and runes work best, and how to pick which skills properly. Veigar is a real tricky mage that also has tons of tricks up his sleeve. Lounge back, relax and maybe you will learn something worth your while. :D

Runes

I will describe the runes that are most appropriate for Veigar and why they are mostly used.

Let's start off with Greater Mark of Insight:
. It gives more magic penetration for Veigar to burst through Magic Resist.
. It allows extra damage output.
. Greater Mark of Insight is the most commonly used Rune for most mages.

Now for Greater Seal of Vitality:
. Allows Veigar to take less damage for late game.
. Its extra health so what can go wrong? :D
. Here is the beef :O

You can take the Basic Armor runes or Take Greater Seal of Replenishment. This is what you would benefit from it:
. More Mana at lower level while you are waiting for your items.
. More skill sustainability.
. Allows you to make sure you have enough Mana to cast Event Horizon to get out of sticky situations.

Now lets talk about Greater Glyph of Force:
. Greater Glyph of Force allows you to have the same amount of AP as Greater Glyph of Potency by time level 6.
. When Greater Glyph of Force is level 18 you will have 3x the amount of AP then Potency.
. They allow you to nuke opponents hard early game and late game.

Now for Greater Quintessence of Potency:
. I would recommend going with these since you will get level 1 burst damage.
. Greater Quintessence of Force only gives you about 7.74 AP at level 18 so which is why its most useful to get the flat Potency's

So thats basically why I pick the runes I use for Veigar. =)

Masteries

I go with 22-0-8 with Veigar for one main reason. He needs the ability to Blast your enemies sky high while having that tad bit of Mana Regen. Going with these masteries will basically help everything there is about Veigar but this is where your item choice comes in handy. You got to think to yourself. "How will I be able to Sustain with Mana on Veigar?" Well the answer is easy.

Don't waste your Mana and allow your Item build to help you with it a bit.

Items

You can start off with Doran's Ring as it will allow you to gain 15 Ability Power and 5 Mana Regen/5 Seconds, Or grab Boots and 3pots. Next grab your boots so you can have escape abilities. Get a bit more AP with Amplifying Tome so you can nuke them a bit better.

Now that your build is Rolling along. Get your Sorcerer's Shoes and Kage's Lucky Pick.

Oh noes!!!! Im running out of my mana a tad fast, So here is a couple of options you can do.

1. Grab a Sapphire Crystal, for Rod of Ages.
2. Get Meki Pendant for Tear of The Goddess.

But while you are doing this build you might want to start working on your Rylai's Crystal Scepter.
Grab Rabadon's Deathcap before your Arch Angel staff so it can charge up a bit before you upgrade it. Then Grab Deathfire Grasp for the ultimate nuke. :D.

Skill Sequence

Always and I say Always get Baleful Strike at level 1 so you can work up your farm. Once you got that you have 2 decisions on what you want to do next.

1. Get your Dark Matter at level 2 so you can deal more damage to creeps (Costs a lot of Mana).
2. Grab Event Horizon at level 2 because there is a Jungler and you might need to get out of a sticky situation.

Once you have gotten another stack in Baleful Strike, you can farm creeps even Easier.

Now since I went with number 2, I will now get Dark Matter twice. You want at least 2 stacks of Dark Matter by time lv 5 for maximum damage.

Once you are level 6 Your Greater Glyph of Forces are already as strong as potency. This is now where you ask yourself these questions.

Does my enemy have merc treads or an ability to get out of my stun? I need to get at least another Event Horizon or 2. Ill get whatever I need next.

Does my enemy know how to Dodge my Dark Matter? If so Max out your Baleful Strike first. Then ill max out my Dark Matter.

Does my Enemy keep getting hit by my Dark Matter? Then might as well get one more in Baleful Strike so I can kill creeps and then Max this out first. Next ill max out Baleful Strike.

Basically this is the thought process of a normal Veigar. So no we will explain the summoner spells.

Summoner Spells

Ignite: Allows you to gain 5 ability power and finish off anyone you have nuked down completely. Make sure you use ignite to finish off your opponent at lower level.

Teleport: Allows you to go back and gain full health and mana. Very viable with most nuking mage's that have a hard time with mana control.

Flash: Allows you to escape a gank. Its viable and very strong for a utility. Most used utility in the game for laning.

Farming + Unique Skills.

Most very new Veigar's don't really know the importance of Baleful Strike. It will allow you to basically gain 1 AP per LAST HIT. I can't exaggerate this but last hitting is what allows you to gain more gold and farm. Most people forget the fact that 10 creeps in difference is about 230 gold. Therefore can decide which champ in that lane is going to die first.

Now for your passive:

Each champ that is killed will give veigar an extra 1/2/3/4/5 AP per level up on Baleful Strike. This is also very important to Veigar's Nuking ability so use it wisely until its maxed.

Summary

To summarize this guide up. I have basically gave you the best tricks and tips I can give about Veigar. I do have a 11KDA in Ranked with Veigar and with me building Veigar this way has never failed me. This build is very Viable and I hope to spread my knowledge off to the newer base of League of Legend players.

Thanks for reading my Guide. Keep inspiring me to make more.
