All hook champions are of the highest threat to Xerath support. He is immobile and will die if you mis-step and get hooked.
Thresh
All hook champions are of the highest threat to Xerath support. He is immobile and will die if you mis-step and get hooked.
Nautilus
All hook champions are of the highest threat to Xerath support. He is immobile and will die if you mis-step and get hooked.
Alistar
Alistar has some very good all in potential. Harassing him with autos level 1 is your best chance scare him, afterwards you have to play back.
Leona
Leona has hard engage and can lock you down levels 2-3 and 6. Don't get caught by her.
Zyra
Zyra has quite a bit of burst and can have some annoying poke of her own if you place yourself near her plants.
Brand
Brand has some significant burst after level 3 (he can proc his passive). Beware his power spike.
Vel'Koz
Vel'Koz is similar to Brand, but has poke of his own. He can burst you down with his passive if you get knocked up, so play carefully until you're sure he doesn't have the mana for it or it's on cooldown.
Rakan
Rakan has very long ranged engage and can heal off your poke with ease. There's nothing you can do for your ADC or yourself, whoever he chooses to knock up will die.
Zilean
Zilean can't do much because you rarely get in range of his bombs, and if you do, you out-trade him. Keep in mind Zilean goes coin normally, so trading autos with him will benefit you more.
Veigar
Veigar can't really do much to you unless you place yourself within trap range of him.
Taric
Taric lacks good engage (without use of summoner spells) due to your range, and he can't really outheal your abuse.
Braum
Braum fits into the same category as Taric. No engage if you're positioned correctly in lane, and can't shield your lazers.
Soraka
Squishy mages are the reason you play Xerath support. Soraka can be poked instead of the adc, and she has no way to heal herself.
Sona
Sona can be annoying because she heals quite a bit and her poke is easier to land than yours, but she isn't a hard matchup to kill with a stun (Sonas often walk up to q you, use this to stun them).
Janna
Janna can shield herself or her adc, but early on, she's very frail to a stun, and if she shields her adc you can w her instead.
Karma
Karma goes under the same category as other mages, but she has a speed up to offer and she can reliably root you in lane.
Lulu
Lulu has a lot of tools to frustrate you in lane, but she can't take your poke forever early on. You can eventually poke her adc or herself out if you keep trying.
Nami
Nami's heals are insane, but she shouldn't really be in range to get multiple heals off on you since you'll be so far away. Beware the bubble though, never be too overconfident.
Malzahar
Malzahar has a good chance of killing you once he hits 6, but the lane is winnable up until then.
