Hello and this is my very first guide and it will be for Zilean- The Chronokeeper. In this guide I simply just get down to the point with no extra bits and pieces that are irrelevant. This is a guide for AP Zilean that can be played as solo mid or at bot but I am going to make this guide assuming you are going to go mid. I'm not going to go over major details on runes, masteries, or the items cause I am going to assume you are an experienced player already and should already know this much.

Ignite and Flash should be the obvious choice for its the most common spells used on AP carries. Some people say you should get Clartiy but I say **** that! That is why you have Rod of Ages. Not to mention your mana regeneration runes.

Any other spells would be obsolete.

fyi: Clairvoyance is a support spell and since this is a guide for AP Zilean, this is not what we are aiming for.

Start with a Doran's Ring. It doesn't matter if you go mid or bot, this is a great item for most AP Champions.

You want to get boots on your first trip back and then get Catalyst the Protector as soon as you can since it gives you great lane sustain.

Finish up with Rod of Ages. Rod of Ages is one of the best items that give you so much in order to stay in your lane for as much as you can.

Then go ahead and turn your Boots of Speed into Sorcerer's Shoes.

Then you want to grab Rabadon's Deathcap. This is the biggest must have items for any AP Champion.

Normally in every game I play, the opposing team will get a lot of magic resistance for you and/or more AP teammates in your team. Thats where Void Staff comes in and stacking with your boots, thats bye-bye to their Magic Resistance. In other cases where your opponents may not get any magic resistance, then skip Void Staff since your Sorcerer's Shoes should be enough to Spell Penetrate through their base magic resistance stat.

If this is the case, after Rabadon's, just make a Morello's Evil Tome. I love this item since it goes very well with your cooldown reduction runes and masteries. In total, you will have 35.89% cooldown reduction. Though cooldown reduction isnt that great for some champions, for Zilean its a must since you will be a great asset for you team if you always have your ultimate ready at all times.

Finish up with Zhonya's Hourglass.

Rank up your first skill asap as that is your one and only offensive skill. If you place this skill twice on the same target, the first time bomb will explode as soon as you place another time bomb on top of the same target leaving the 2nd bomb to explode after the few short seconds. I think people really underestimate Zilean since this skill isnt an instant burst. Early game, make sure you use this spell always on the enemy champion, shooing them away far from gaining much experience. The range is really good on this skill and is also a great farming tool.

You only need 1 level on your second skill as it only lowers the cooldown on it by every level. I love this skill cause it allows Zilean to harass and farm early game very effectively. Also this skill should be used everytime when its off cooldown since it only cost 50 mana and will allow your ultimate to be ready to be used that much faster.

Time Warp is very effective all game. Towards midgame, you will be able to use this twice combined with Rewind. I normally use this skill twice on an enemy trying to escape or even a teammate that is trying to escape or chase. You have to use your own set of skills on when and who you use this skill on.

Your ultimate is what makes Zilean one of the best ultimate's in the game. This skill is a game changer if used correctly. You must always be on alert in team fights getting ready to cast this on an ally champion that is about to die. This ultimate basically gives you or any ally the effects from the item Guardian Angels. You can imagine how overpowered this would be if say used on Tryndamere or basically any of your carries. I guarantee this skill will be the reason why you guys will win most if not every team fight that comes around.

I just want to note that all of the extra experience gaining masteries in the Utility Tree stacks with Zilean's Passive which is 8% more experiences gained for Zilean and all of his allies. This is why Zilean is such a great solo mid since he levels up so quickly and also makes it great for your Rod of Ages to proc the level up hp and mana boost after every time you level up.

In team fights, you MUST stay alive since it is very important that your team has your ultimate to be used when ready. Be smart and don't forget to use Time Warp at the right time. Also when an ally is chasing an enemy, you may also place a Time Bomb on a MELEE champion if the enemy is too far. A fun and neat trick is to place a Time Bomb on an ally like Akali then give her a speed boost from your Time Warp. If you are lucky, you will get a kill due to your bomb. Your teammate might like the "KS" but screw it, greed is good~

That is basically it.. this is my very first guide ever so please no harsh comments but I will gladly take any advice if there should be a change in my guide. Thanks and please comment.
