You should be going bot with a support for farming. You don't need levels as much as AP champions do.

1. Kennen is a HE, not a SHE
2. YOU SHOULD be going bot lane with a support. It's not mandatory, but typically AP champs go mid, and AP champs typically have a better level 1-6, therefore you'll get zoned out of your lane quite easily unless you know what you're doing/enemy is bad.
3. Vayne is essentially an assassin. She excels at 1v1 combat. Positioning with her in teamfights is your #1 priority. If you're out of position you're going to die....

Flat armor or mana regen seals are nice too. Going bot with a support will make a huge difference for your laning power, assuming the support is any good.

Not the main reason AP is put in solo. AP depends on both farm and levels for their damage (levels for flat damage on spells) while AD champions rely mostly on farm.
