Can anyone explain this? My team is made up of one Silver player and four Bronze players. Two teams we beat were similar to us and a third was a team full of silver players. The two teams we lost to both had a Gold player that practically carried their teams to beat us (Ex: A Gold IV Nautilus jungling and pulling off great ganks.) Can anyone just give me some information on how you are placed in tiers and divisions in Ranked 5v5s?
New teams usually need to get through placement matches in which you get matched against all kinds of teams. You have some sort of a hidden rating for teams (which decides what teams you get matched against in the first place). If you win 3/4 in a row, the system thinks you're good and then matches you with better players. If you can't win against these better players, they will assume you're not that good and place you in bronze :)
Ranked 5v5 teams placements are quite random, but still have system for the games.
I'm talking with experience of several ranked 5v5 teams (none seriouse) and now I'm in one seriouse team to actually reach something.
Placements do look up your soloQ ELO I believe. Our Gold-Silver games were all against bronze-silver until the 5th one against platinum-gold-silver players and we lost it --> Placed Silver IV
Second try we had all low Gold and won every game --> Placed Silver I
My seriouse team had all high platinum and then me Gold II at the time, we won all 5 and got placed Gold IV. We had pretty much gold-silver games and it looks like the 5th game is really important as you usually find teams close to you or even higher.
This is how I see it, but the system is not published anywhere, so who knows how it exactly works.

Yes, but why does it place you in high Silver with gold team, Gold IV with platinum team.
SoloQ elo or opponents elo got something to do with it I think

No, soloqueue elo is used to determine your initial division placement, but your actual matches can fluctuate greatly. For example, if I had a team full of diamonds, we could go 0-5 in placement and still get placed in silver.
this is accurate.
I've been in a full soloQ diamond players team and our first match we got paired against Diamonds/Plats. We fought teams with at least 1 diamond in our 5 placement matches
My AP Xin Zhao guide is on the way!
