I don't like how it works the same for solo lanes than for actual assassins. They should have added level scaling so that it's less effective for solo laners and actually more effective for assassins.
The radius is 800 units (8
Teemos), which is a bit more than your average ranged auto (600 units is average for adcs iirc).

Without being able to go into too much detail, I just want to mention the devs are working on this, but it requires a pretty big overhaul of the mastery system on MOBAFire, which of course also affects a ton of old guides (so it has to be done right). Hopefully this will be live soon :)

Isn't 550 more average for adcs
anyways I don't see how level scaling would help, and what if your solo laner is an assassin? I feel like it should be renamed to duelist or something

If it's only an 800 radius, then that makes a little sense why it would be called "assassin." If an assassin sneaks in and tries to take out a squishy member of the enemy team's back line, they still might get the bonus even during a team fight.

The biggest issue is that it's a radius, which means even if you are positioned in a manner where you are technically far away from your team (ie: terrain), the radius would still encompass them. Maybe they could make it like the fog of war reveal, where it's sort of a dynamic vision radius.
Let's say there's an enemy at red side blue buff. Your team could be taking dragon while you go for the kill, but if there's a large circular radius there might be a chance that some fool taking scuttle crab is close enough to deny you the assassin buff.
Either way, I hold my case that it should be called duelist rather than assassin.

But yeah, splitpush duelists would still use it, so I guess changing its name to "duelist" sounds like a better idea.

Deal 1.5% increased damage when no allied champions are nearby
Thoughts on this mastery? I feel like it'd be pretty good on solo laners, as it's pretty much damage amp for laning phase. Especially for laners with high kill potential, not just assassins. Even outside laning phase if you duel someone even with an ally nearby you still get the damage amp. (So duelist would probably be a better name)
Also does anyone know the radius of nearby champions for damage amp to work?
