Okay, game mechanics...
1) CS. Ideal goal is 80%, but 60% is probably a reasonable goal for now (meaning you want ~80 CS by 10:00). Go into a game against a bot and CS as best as you can; keep track of your CS at 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 minutes.
2) Winning trades. This means that if the enemy pokes you, you better hit them back. If they keep hitting you without taking any back damage, they've already won.
3) Using level advantages. Did the enemy carry recall and take his sweet time coming back? Or maybe he leashed for his jungler too long? If you're in a favorable position (aka, about to hit Lv2 or Lv3 before him), that's a good time to trade because you'll have one more skill to fire at him.
4) Wander. This is specific to roles like mid and support. Top CAN wander, but the ADC shouldn't wander due to the high price of their kit; they need to stay in lane longer to get CS.
5) Positioning in team fights. Are you low on health and their assassin just walked in? Don't let them get close to you!
6) Wards. Unless you're the ADC, you should have them. Period. At least two on you at all times.
7) Learn all the junglers' routes. Not kidding. If they have
Amumu jungling, chances are, he'll start blue, then do Wolves, Wraiths, and then red. He's going to probably then gank whoever is near red. OR you can stage an invade by your side at his red if you learn when he'll be doing red.
8) Learn the timers for all the supports' ultimates. There's a reason why supports are "gold-efficient". It's because their kits, especially their ultimates, can boost their entire team or cripple your entire team without much scaling involved.
9) Itemization. Look at what your enemies are building. What's the best way to counter their builds?
Kayle in top lane, jungle
Nocturne,
Teemo mid, and
Twitch-
Nidalee bottom? If you're a bruiser, you're gonna want a
Frozen Heart or
Randuin's Omen. Or maybe they're all building AP damage; you'll want a
Banshee's Veil, more likely than not, just to disrupt that first skillshot. If they don't have any armor, maybe you're better off with a
Blade of the Ruined King or
Black Cleaver than a
Last Whisper.

^If you do all mentioned in post above you can easily get to diamond 1.
I'd say for gold you don't have to do many things. You have to play at least 1 role as main role, with at least 3 champions (preferably stronger chmapions of this patch) + minimum 2 more roles that you are comfortable to play.
General gameplay rules, make less stupid plays, don't be negative, never surrender, ward your lane/jungle if you aren't playing adc. Learn to kite, don't initate stupid figths, for example 2v3, or 4v5. Don't get caught in late game.
Anything more is matter of practice. This is just mine observation.
Also, you aren't interested in your teammates bad plays, focus on your play. Use mute at any sign of flame, you can communicate via pings if necessary.

Learn to play 2 roles well, basically 1 main and something to fall back on. Then, train yourself with matchups and preferably not just your own lane. It's good to know the state of the game before it actually starts, especially when jungling.
Additionally, I find it to be a good idea to trust your teammates in their picks and/or roles. If someone picks
Twisted Fate into
Talon, they likely know the matchup and understand how to play it properly. Sure, we all get idiots in soloq but mistrust is still a bad atmosphere.

Tips:
Play really carefully around 3:30-4:15. That's when junglers have double buffs and are looking to gank.
Generally, try to leave fights when you're around 25% health. There's no sense in dying when you don't have to.
Know when to force fights, and when NOT to fight. If they have baron buff, don't fight them unless you catch them in a bad spot.
Destroy enemy nexus
Don't have your nexus destroyed.

You don't only need mechanics. You need coordination, game sense, good reflexes and decision making to succeed. If I were to list all mechanical aspects of the game, the list would not only be endless, and not only because of the endless array of champion-specific mechanics, but also because mechanics are one of the least impactful aspects of the game to begin with.

Using abilities between autoattacks as much as possible. Especially important if the ability actually resets the autoattack timer.
Ill get more when I think of them
