Because, well, to put it bluntly, the DPS/support meta was better.
Only a few supports can roam successfully, and you need a support no matter what, really. Needing, for example, an Alistar when there's so many MUCH better supports.
Bot can get more farm too, if assisted by a support.

Because, a passive playstyle and the support/AD carry duo lane shuts down a roamer. Roamers were good when nobody could counter them, now people have figured out how to deal with them.

Roamers will still never popular on EU.
The main reason it died out is that when NA v EU for scrims / matches, they would try to run roamers then get completely shut down by having their lanes just passive farm, and then they'd have their bot lane 2 v 1 vs support + carry and would just get shut down completely, putting them behind in the game.
So they just said to themselves "Aw man, this sucks." and went back to what they did before. But now, NA playing like EU and running support/ad lane all the time now.

Roaming was just a FotM strategy that leaned on the broken gp10 items.

Roaming offers 3 champs 100% EXP gain. Issue is that it is a 5 man team. Being out leveled is a horrible disadvantage coming into late game. Current Meta the supports don't farm and are predominantly 1-3 levels under the rest of their team. Causes issues when they get focused in a team fight. But it works better than roaming ever did, it's plausible to still roam occasionally but doing it too much results in lack of farm and other problems.
