I'd like to say the opposite, actually. I believe that a Teemo left alone in a team fight yields some of the highest sustained AP damage in the game. The problem is that you're front line is going to be awfully weak

Key part of this sentence. It's very hard to get left alone in a fight when you only have 500 range, no dash and are full squishy.
I've been playing quite a lot of Teemo recently and he excels at laning and splitpushing, but his pre-6 is basically a free kill for enemy junglers and post-6 he becomes quite weak to all-ins in many matchups unless he's standing on top of a shroom or he already has a huge lead. His teamfighting is very iffy unless you get the jump on someone and burst them down or you're lucky enough to join the fight after the CC is down.

To be more specific, Gap closing top laners beat him. He can't adc because his range is piss poor. He was played mid lane by Hai but he trainwrecked the game with his zone control. They nerfed his ult so much it's pretty useless. He has become nothing more than an auto attack champ.
I disagree that he doesn't contribute to team fights, but he doesn't provide the same benefits as about 20-30 other champs provide.
He contributes to team fights by being a 1 second 5 man taunt.
He can screw with a lot of top laners and without jungle pressure he should be able to win lane early on. If you know what to do you can wiggle your way out of a bad situation in a gank or when the enemy jumps on you.
Teamfights rely on you positioning well, almost like and adc, and trying to get peeled for. His ult still hurts and provides a slow, because of his w he can have a built in mobi while getting something like sorc shoes for pen.
The ult though relies on trying to get shrooms into position BEFORE the fight which is hard to do and you should always have one on hand to drop on top of youself if you get jumped on. this can help you get away, or reposition, or just straight up kill the person who jumped on you.
I like teemo and believe he can be a good pick. You HAVE to play risky though and try to secure and early lead as quick as possible. I frequently go for level 1 kills by waiting in a bush in river or the tri-bush and attempt to kill the enemy top laner when he walks by, something you may not get away with in a higher level of play.
Mid teemo is asking to get wrecked in lane. you are short range sustained damage vs ranged, poke/assasin champions, basically the entire meta.
Summary: Teemo isn't a bad pick at all. The problem is that everything that teemo does well at or relies on to win can be hard countered in competitive play

Hello everyone,
I was recently wondering... Why isn't Teemo being played competitively after the removal of Oracle's?
The removal of this item brought Evelynn back from the shadows and into the spotlight. We see her ALL the time now and she seems to do pretty well.
However, Teemo still seems to be considered a "trollpick". Why is this? One would think that his shrooms would be great.
I know right now tanks are in vogue, and Teemo, being squishy, wouldn't really fit into this. But is that the main reason he isn't picked? Or is it because of the existence of trinkets? Or why?
He is considered troll pick because he is outright annoying to play against and with (because of his OP early game, and pretty useless late game, especially against tanky opponents).
