I'm pretty sure it's Looking For Group / Looking For Match. That box has been there for as long as I remember. Not actually sure what it does, I'm guessing it shows on your profile that you want to play with people?
I don't think we have any plans to implement some sort of matchmaking service. Some sort of tool to help players group up is an interesting idea, though currently you could easily just make a thread in Community Games that would probably get more attention than your personal profile.
As for preferred roles, I'm not sure. Positional might make a bit more sense than champion type, though for some people they just like Assassins whether they're mid top or jungle. I can bring it up. Maybe we can have both?

What is LFG / LFM?
Under preferred roles why are they not positional? E.g. Top, Mid, Jg, etc.,.
This might be out of the scope of what Mobafire is trying to do but seems like you might be able to offer a match-making service with that information. Assuming it is opt in. As in check this box if you would like your profile to be available for the match-making or mentor or coaching service.
Maybe even a block for typical time of day that your are on. And whether on not you can do voice comm.
