And at first it could show anything but you could edit the notifications (Show blog comments, quotes etc.)
Someone else suggested we get notified when a guide we have commented on is updated. Notification of an update is something I'd like the most, as a lot of people tend to downvote a guide and never come back to check if anything has changed.
We've discussed how much we want a notification system, as other people have mentioned this has been brought up several times and everybody likes the idea. It's just a big project so it hasn't happened yet.
Our current vision is it would be separate from pm's (but still have it's own icon on the top bar), and you could check / uncheck what kind've notifications you want such as responses on your thread, guide, favorited stuff, etc.

Have you ever wondered if someone replied to your post? Have you ever waited for that first comment but you didn't refresh enough and missed it and couldn't answer fast enough? Did you wait comments on your blog but you missed them?
