It depends. Invades rely on a few factors.
Most importantly, do they start blue? Fiddle, amumu, maokai, etc, yes. Lee sin, mundo, riven, no.
Then you have to assess your level 1 power vs theirs. If you have no cc, it's probably a poor idea to invade on a team with cc.
Some godly invade champs: taric, zyra, Morgana, Shen (taunt lvl 1), Ashe, lux, etc.
****ty invade champs: vlad, malphite, etc.
Also, if your opponents start blue and you can't fight them, you can always steal their red. Ask for a smiteless, though.

Hey - thanks again for writing the walkthrough on how to succeed in ranked. It's great to know for someone newer like me.
A few questions about top lane. My favorite player up top is
Rumble who I feel does pretty well both top and mid. I run into trouble though when my jungler is running an AP like Amumu, Maokai, or someone else - because I want to diversify our damage. So I really need to learn to play some physical damage champs top lane.
I know you like
Olaf, and I'm gonna work on playing him, but I seem to have trouble being successful in teamfights with him, even after I win my lane. Not saying that he "falls off" at all, cuz I know he doesn't, I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to do - usually I just try to ult/ghost to their carries, and I just find I'm not as successful as I'd like.
I wanted to ask you about a few other champions I was wondering about -
Wukong and
Jarvan IV. You mention in your guide that the point of top lane is to dominate your lane opponent. And in my experience playing Wukong, it's kind of about just playing patiently, trying to keep up in cs, and then being more useful than your opponent in teamfights. Same with Jarvan, it can be very tough to go toe to toe with people like Olaf or Irelia unless you get an early kill and can start to snowball.
So do you think it's just not worth it right now to learn these champs? Or do they have a place? And any other top laners you particularly recommend? Thanks - sorry for the long question!

I feel like S3 has disfavored
Swain a bit out of lane phase, do you feel that way too? All this HP stacking plus high damage focus seems to make his teamfighting less effective. Do you have any strong items suggestions apart from the usual RoA + Abyssal + Zhonya? Liandry and Warmog perhaps?
