Teamspeak causes huge lag unless you have an amazing computer.
Skype or Vent are always better options.

I'd say a above avg computer is required.

I use teamspeak regularly, both on with my SC2 clan and when I'm playing LoL with my friends, I've never really noticed it, and I'm playing on a 2007 dual core dell that loves to randomly bluescreen =0
But as far as skype and bandwidth goes, it doesn't use much at all.
Thanks for the sig Nameless Bard

You don't really need a 'amazing computer' to run TS. My old compaq laptop could do it with LoL. Played LoL on low graphics though, but meh. New computer is a lot better of course, skype is a great alternative.

Thanks to Koksei, The_Nameless_Bard,JhoiJhoi, LaCorpse, JEFFY40HANDS and myself for the signatures! I am also a certified gangster.
In my experience with some friends with bad Internet it slows down their overall internet speed down to other devices connected to the same network. That being said, ask your friends to invite you into one of their chat rooms in skype while they are speaking and number one you can hear what your teammates are saying but not only that you will be able to see if it actually slows down you network without having to buy a mic :)

Skype doesn't use a lot of bandwidth. I have never seen a real effect on my games when using it, although I do find 'Teamspeak' to be a much more effective VoIP software. Definitely get a mic, it's completely necessary to anyone who is interested in serious gaming.

Agreed. I know a few people who can't use Skype when playing LoL, so they just use an alternative program like Ventrilo instead. Either way, you should definitely have a mic.
