Because if the solo's went to different lanes, top and bottom would end up as 2v1 lanes. Think about it.

So the team on the left is always at a disavantage early game? due to the fact there jungler cant asist on ganks at solo lane because he has to walk the lenght of the map to get to assist him?
Or you could assist the 2v2 and have a 3v2 but then the other teams jungler would have to run the lengh of the map to get the same odds but instead he is stuck with a 2v2 since his jungle finishes next to the solo laner?
To me it doesnt seem balanced at all going for solo lane top all the time.

Blue has easier access to early bottom ganks, and purple has easier access to early top ganks, immediately after picking up red buff. Later in the game than that, and the difference between the two sides becomes fairly inconsequential, in terms of where is easier for the jungler to gank, simply because the jungler could be anywhere in their rotation.
Besides this, while you are correct about purple being able to gank top sooner (assuming a start at blue and no ganks until red for both sides), blue has slightly better access to top (can walk in just in front of purple's tower for flanking, bush location favors ganking overextended purple top, etc.). We could argue until our faces turn blue about which is more important. (The real answering being: whoever wards better has an advantage.) Overall, the map layout is relatively balanced.
Anyway, if you switched the solo lane to bottom you'd simply run into the exact same problem with blue/purple reversed, and matching up solo and duo lanes is only a great way to have the solo pretty much auto-lose the lane. While I understand that there might be a slight imbalance in terms of early ganks, I don't see any solutions that don't create worse problems.

Solo top is usually because baron control is far less important at levels 1-6 than dragon is.
Also, on the topic of which side is disadvantaged early, with the newer jungle, most junglers end at the wraith camp anyway. Primed to gank either mid or the lane of their choosing.

You are over-thinking this...?
Don't make it complicated. You match up the same number of people so you don't have somebody at a disadvantage. It's that simple.
Well, if you want to be technical, everybody jungles at the start (stealing enemy buffs) in ranked.
Having good map control helps prevent those 2v3 situations and such. Keep that in mind too.

Nope, the one with duo-golems for ad-carry are the ones at advantage. They also have the easier opportunity of ganking their top-lane(which is not warded early) through tri-bush.

The reason the meta-game is that way is simply because of Dragon control early game. Baron doesn't even spawn until the 15 minute mark anyways, so it's a no brainer to have more people close to Dragon to contest for it.
As for advantages and disadvantages for each side, I think it's negligible.
