Here's the winners from our celebratory 500k Members Giveaway! For the contest all you had to do was write what you love about MOBAFire.
Originally we planned to give away 5 MOBAFire hats + stickers, but we were so touched from reading all your comments we decided to ramp it up to 10!
Here's our #1 staff pick, who will receive a MOBAFire Hat + stickers as well as $10 RP! We felt that his statement really got to the essence of what's great about both League of Legends and MOBAFire. Thank you for the touching words!
Well I wanted to say a few things, not even for the swag, or the RP but just because I think it needs to be said. Firstly, League of Legends has made gaming international. Not that it wasn't before but now it's "snowballing" out of control. No pun intended. Secondly, League is the first game in a really long time, almost as far as I can remember (Which is a long time) That I consistently play, over and over again and never have the fear of getting bored with it. Not only can you constantly better yourself, constantly learn new things and take your skill level to new heights, but you can aspire to be a PRO! Before league of legends, kids, teenagers and Adults could only DREAM of being a professional gamer and get paid for it. League (With the help of a lot of other companies) has made that dream a reality. Not only is it an amazing game that will entertain you for hours (Some times more then it should. lol) but it's something to aspire to get better at. Thanks Riot. You've done something amazing. You've brought people from all over the world together to do something they love. Thirdly, I'm a disabled Veteran. I basically have nothing to do during the day as I'm limited to what I CAN do. LoL Has given me the opportunity to enjoy something without too much strenuous labor, and it doesn't leave me not wanting to get out of bed the next morning. I'm stimulating for my brain and not intensive on my body. All in all, a great way to spend my day.
Now, In regards to Mobafire. When I first started playing league of legends, Obviously I was a noob. As is everyone when they first start. I wanted to get better, not just for self gratification but to help my teammates out. (Even when playing with random people). Mobafire was a website I heard another player talking about and when I logged on I noticed there were videos of Pros playing, Tips, Builds, Tricks, Articles, so on and so forth. I whole heartedly believe that Mobafire helped take my game to the next level, and consequently 3 levels after that. I am now a fierce competitor with the hopes of becoming a LoL Pro. Without Mobafire I don't know what I'd do. Thanks Guys. You are doing a wonderful thing for people like me.
Since We have expanded our giveaway we also selected 2 staff-picked runner ups for a guaranteed hat + stickers. OTG's comment was also very touching and really dug deep for what is great about MOBAFire, and wotuan's, well, it was just too perfect.
Here's why I love Mobafire; Over the past 2 years and my time being a Veteran, I have never been on a site were I've felt as welcome as Mobafire. Whenever a new member introduces themselves, a lot of the familiar faces join in and make that person feel really welcome.
I remember my initial introduction and how nicely everyone treated me.
next, this is a site dedicated to league of Legends, and what stands out about Mobafire to me, over other sites like lolKing or solomid, is that this community feels like more than just a meta-guide churning mill.
We converse, we analyze, we help others, we create, we adapt and discuss other possibilities. This community feels more real and accepting than other sites.
Finally, the people. Mobafire has some of the most awesome members around. They're always willing to lend a hand even if it's not about League. I posted a blog early last year detailing my struggles and fears of death and anxiety about it. I was greeted with many comments form the community ranging from similar stories, helpful advice and very heartwarming comments. being a part of this community has helped me in my actual life, as well as playing League of Legends and I'd like to thank you all for that.
Special Thanks to: GMD, Mowen, Veng, MissMaw, JhoiJhoi, Wayne, Hogopogo, Werepire, Sirell, Astrolia, tehAsian, Throatslasher, C4 Lasty, berzerk, DarkPercy, and Joxuu. You guys rock and have been extremely helpful to me all this time. :3
Mobafire, Mobafire, how I love thee.
Amongst all who seek to aid the league's champions,
Who can compare?
So rich, full and complete are thy ways.
What could be desired except what is already given?
Your support of the league enables myself
to allow my plethora of steam titles to sit idly by
while I dance wildly through the fields of the league.
Such a glorious prize is the league,
Yet when facing it alone, as a ship on the vastness of the great sea,
The (moba)fire in the lighthouse is a welcome sight to a weary vessel.
Your beacon pierces my fearful heart,
filling it with hope and courage.
And hope I will as onward I battle
against the great enemies standing before me.
Seeking to invade my land, destroy my towers,
and quench the very nexus of my soul,
I need all thy help if victory is to be mine.
Burn brightly on great Mobafire, and let none quench the passion of thy flame.
There were so many wonderful comments, we simply had to have an honorable mentions section, read at your leisure. :)
I want a hat, I don't even care about the riot points.
How much swag would I have rocking that hat around campus.
Oh, and that sticker just another one to add to my laptop cover (I've sticker-bombed my laptop, will take a picture if you guys are in disbelief.)
On another note, I'm glad we're doing milestones again, it reminds me of the old days when we just hit 100,000 comments and made such a big deal about it! It's the little things, and it's cool to see how far Mobafire has progressed.
I would like to thank Mobafire and the community for giving me the chance to be one of the first person to comment on this thread. It's a great honor for me, and I would like to start with having a toast for my parents - I couldn't do it without you! Especially my father, who time after time walks past the couch, yelling "Get out, Son! Stop playing that stupid game!" But I never gave up. I said "Dad, I promise I'm gonna make you proud! One day, I'm going to comment on a contest thread and win a hat". "Never!" he said, so I hope you're proud of me dad!
I would also like to thank my grandmother, who time after time has told me that I can write a comment on the thread. And I made her a promise. A promise that I never should have done. I promised her that I would write the comment no matter what. And a promise is a promise. Last Thursday, she passed away. And when I was sitting next to the hospital bed, holding her hand, the last thing she said was "You can do it, kid. Do it for me, for us!" And the tears flew out.
I knew it was a massive pressure. Commenting on a thread isn't just for anyone. And when I told my friends about it, they laughed, and said "You won't do it! Do you have any idea how many people there is on Mobafire? You're crazy, man!" Were I crazy? Was this task possible? Standing here today, I regret nothing. I've made it. The comment for the contest. I can finally die happy.
Oh... The reason why! Meeeh.... I like the guides and hats, nothing special
I started on Mobafire to learn how to play champions back in Season 2. Back in the old days where there was no meta pre-30 and I didn't know what half the champions in the game did, Mobafire guides taught me the basics of the game that I would learn to love.
I stayed on Mobafire because I decided to write a guide for Ahri during Summer school since I had no internet access. I started out as the 5th top Ahri guide on Mobafire, but through dedication and sheer luck, my guide slowly climbed to the Top Ahri guide on the site and then even to the #1 guide on all the site. Now that the guide is at the top, I feel it is part of my duty to answer all questions I receive from any future Ahri-masters.
I love Mobafire because the community is great (minus some notorious trolls) and there's always something interesting going on. Plus, it gave worth to my life and I feel like I actually accomplished something.
Well, I like Mobafire because of the community. Simply put, living in a fairly rural area, its hard to find people to talk to about the things I'm interested in, and even the friends I do have are pretty spread out from each other, so I don't really get to "hang out" with them all that often.
The reason I joined however was simply to make a guide I figured people would like. I got a lot of feedback on it, hashing out improvements after every comment, testing every alteration I made to the builds, until finally my ap Gangplank guide stood as one of the most viable - unviable guides on the site.
After that though, I started to get interested in what other members of the site were doing (thinking: "Hey, these people are smart. I wonder what stuff they've been working on themselves"), And so I simply started browsing forums, something I had never done before on any other website. Pretty son I found people talking about things aside from LOL, like anime, music, art etc, And I really enjoyed seeing the way people would create and critique all of these different things
Soon after I stopped being a lurker and transformed into the metaphorical butterfly of a regular contributor to the site. I'm not exactly popular, but I find the discussion here fun regardless :)
TLDR: The thing I like about Mobafire is, simply put, the Community.
i don't know if i really deserve this hat since i'm not such an old member, but i just love mobafire. I love people here. When i started to play LoL, i first found this site and came here, i was a totally noob about this kind of games, i didn't know anything! When i saw mobafire i instantly liked it,sorry, i meant i loved it :3. Before i even registered i used to check best guides around here and try them, and enjoy them! I was so gratefull to certain members of the community for theese amazing tips and that great help i got to improve myself that i just decided to sign up for be voting, commeting and showing my love for people who helped me! Usually i'm never so active on forums or communities like this but, over cuz of my love to the game, i found so many great, funny and friendly people here to share my love for this game and to ask/give help in case i/they needed. I heard a lot of bad opinions/words by people about mobafire, i just never cared about it, i always tried to defend this awesome community. To me it looks like if im keeping to repeat the same things and words over and over again like if im doing it only for my personal profit, i really dont know why it sounds like that to me, im just trying to explain how much i like mobafire and still looks nothing compared to what i really think :3 . Whenever i really care about something or someone i feel like they are special for me, i really wish the best for it/him/her/them and try to make them happy as they did for me. its what i feel about mobafire and its community. Full of people that i respect, like, care and love, if i should list them it would be pretty long :D. I know i know, maybe my feels overflew in this post and it seems like if i try to get something from something that i dont even care about, im just so unsure when i write about somethings that are important for me :S. (if i must do it in a serious way :P )
TL;DR : I love mobafire, i love people on mobafire and i wish you the best and i will try to help this awesome community as much as i can <3
whenever my mom's not home i like to go to her garden, cover myself in dirt and pretend im a carrot
Quoted:
Ha I deserve a hat As probably the Only Grandad who plays lol then I can be rockin the cap when I got to his skool and all the kidz will be like wooooah old dude does league :)
I love League of Legends because it lets me get away from the "real world" for a while and relieve some stress by killing tons of enemies! And also because it's the only video game I've ever gotten my girlfriend to play with me that she enjoys ;)
To be honest, I've heard many people talking poorly of Mobafire. I've come across this website a few times; never gave it a chance. But recently a friend had wanted me to enroll in a tournament; so as I went to sign up and register I noticed Mobafire was actually very interesting. Every week there are tournaments, there are top guides posted, and the list of benifical news goes on. I have truly have no idea why I was told it was a bad website; I find it extremely well planned and easy to use. :) As of about a week ago, Mobafire is my #1 league of legends website!
What people don't understand is the fact Mobafire is more than just a league of legends help website. It really stands out to me because it's a community. These guides aren't what just pros say to build, they have useful information and tell you WHY to do something or build it. Point is, Mobafire is not only useful, but it's also involved with its community.
I get carried away with these things, sorry if I'm all over the place :P
How many of you can say that your mom plays games with you? That she competes against you and with you? Well my son can. He is 13 and we both enjoy LOL very much. He kind of challenged me to play this game and give it a shot. Well I enjoyed it so much that I left Star Wars The Old Republic. Quite a few of my guildies from there also left and have been playing here. I love so many aspects of this game but most of all, I enjoy gaming with my son. I appreciate these give aways as being a single mother does not leave much room for extra gaming money these days.
This is my go to site to learn the break downs I need to be successful within the game. Thank you for the builds and information. It is a must have for any new players to this game.
If chosen, I would proudly wear the hat and FINALLY get my cute lil Teemo Bunny skin. Thank y'all for considering this momma for the prize. GLHF.....see I even get the lingo....=P
So the Rp would be cool for my spell thief lux skin... But the HAT man that HAT, I was going to make my own from caps at my local mall. But DUDE THAT HAT. You just don't understand I would not just be the only person in my college but the only person with a HAT and a Shirt. I got a mobafire shirt printed at a store a little while ago. It was just to show off for my friends. BUT know I see a HAT oh god I NEED THAT HAT, I would be MobaFireMan. The MobaFire Hero, that would be so AWESOME. Anyway Rp would be cool... BUT THAT HAT
I love Mobafire because it's not like your typical gaming community, it's like that neighbourhood café around the block where you usually chill after a lunch home on the weekends. There's always an empty seat for you in each table, and each table represents a certain topic that keeps you entertained for hours on the computer :p After frequently attending that café, you start becoming familiar with everyone, you get to know the daily attendees of the café (btw where's Cuddowls? :/), and you can even play cards with them to kill time :P HS reference 2guud
What I like most about League of Legends are the memories and experiences I've been able to share with my uncle every Monday playing league with him for the past year and a half. Through our wins and losses we've grown closer together and I would not trade that time for anything else in the world. In fact my uncle was the one to introduce me to mobafire when our Monday league days began. Mobafire has helped me become a much more experienced and skilled player on the Fields of Justice. I'm grateful for that too.
Here are the randomly selected winners:
PhrozenDragon
GBrock
Niks Sketchy
Jawknee
Brytonik Leegend

All winners will be notified via email and have 7 days to respond and claim their prize.
Here are a few words from the creators of the site and the MOBAFire Network, FlashJ and Matt:
Wow! On behalf of everyone who works tirelessy on MOBAFire I want to say how humbled we are to have helped so many passionte Summoners. When Matt and I first created MOBAFire we had no idea it would grow so big. We had an idea, just like so many of you do, to create something that might help others connect, share and learn about League. Fast forward over 4 years later and I can honestly say its been an honor to provde a venue that so many Summoner use to help fuel their passion. We reach millions of people every month, have 10 staff on our team, and have reached into other MOBA communities to provide the same tools and experience we have with league. With so much to do sometimes its easy to forget that so many people appreciate what you do, but to read these stories of your experiences and passion for MOBAFire really drives home the importance of what we have done, and continue to do, for so many passionte fans, just like us.
Thank you everyone ,for the wonderful comments and stories. It means a lot to myself, Matt and the rest of the MOBAFire team. Its your passion that keeps us punching keys & churning out code when we could be tower diving!
Small update: We are working hard to expand our team as the sheer size of the MOBAFire Network community has our existing team pushed to the limits. Once we grow our team everyone can look forward to some new, exciting features on MOBAFire, some clean up and updates on old ones and support for more of your favorite games, maybe even outside the MOBA genre.
The responses to this thread have put a huge smile on my face. It has been quite the journey for everyone involved. MOBAFire had the humblest of beginnings, and I am so happy to see where it is today! This is the best kind of reward, to know that we provide a place that players have embraced and turned in to a community they love. We go to great lengths to make MOBAFire as welcoming as possible to any and all summoners, but in the end it's all of you that truly make it great.
This is only the beginning, for all of us. We are busier than ever laying the ground work for the future of MOBAFire. Our team is growing, our tools are getting better every day, and we are surrounded by passionate players with endless talent and great ideas. I am honoured to be a part of this, and I am extremely excited to see what 2014 holds in store! It is going to be a great year :)
And of course, you know I love you guys! It was so fun and touching to read through all the comments and hear everybody's stories. Thanks to everyone that took the time to comment, it brightened our day!

Point is, Mobafire is not only useful, but it's also involved with its community.
I get carried away with these things, sorry if I'm all over the place :P
Stay innovative Mobafire. :)

That is all :P

What I like most about League of Legends are the memories and experiences I've been able to share with my uncle every Monday playing league with him for the past year and a half. Through our wins and losses we've grown closer together and I would not trade that time for anything else in the world. In fact my uncle was the one to introduce me to mobafire when our Monday league days began. Mobafire has helped me become a much more experienced and skilled player on the Fields of Justice. I'm grateful for that too.

Here are a few words from the creators of the site and the MOBAFire Network, FlashJ and Matt:
[quote=FlashJ]

Ok you ready for some cold hard feels?
