β€Žβ€Ž β€Ž Fantasy Leaderboards

After barely missing out on the top spot last week, lakizm is our top point earner of the week! Their team includes the BDS botlane, who had an incredible 4-0 weekend, along with Vitality jungler Bo, who had some insane individual performances. Congratulations! In this week's top 10 we also find some more familiar faces from last week with panos147, Canasal01 and Stela. But the fight for top 10 is long for over, with new faces coming up every week. Many points left to earn, especially with our first Bo5 in the coming week! Don't forget to rebuild your team for playoffs as well!

β€Žβ€Ž β€Ž Current Group Stage Bracket Overview

Main surprise of the weekend is the dominance of BDS to lock themselves their first ever playoffs spot! On paper it might not seem like an upset, the first seed from regular season after all, but in Winter BDS kinda fell apart during Bo3s. Their growth is amazing to see, and they rewarded themselves with a top 3 finish at least. The other team to have made playoffs already is Vitality. The team has really come into its own since they acquired Upset, and this weekend especially this had a very good showing. The first Bo5 between BDS and Vitality promises to be a very interesting one.

For the other teams it's still sweating to make it among the top 4. Astralis and KOI are in a decent position after winning their first match, only one more Bo3 win is required to get into playoffs. The competition is still fierce though, because our Winter finalists MAD and G2 are still in the running as well. But even then they still have to get past Fnatic and SK respectively, and those teams won't go down easily.

β€Žβ€Ž β€Ž Day 1 Recap

Group A - Team Vitality vs MAD Lions

^
VS
^
🏁 Game One

Vitality drafted themselves a straightforward front to back comp while MAD Lions opted into a skirmish-heavy draft that snowballs well. MAD immediately tried playing through their mid/jungle, Ahri alongside the return of Trundle, a good pick into Vitality's beefy Malphite and Maokai. Plays did not really work out though, as Vitality could weather the storm and even get several kills on their key carries, Perkz on Yone and Upset on Zeri. MAD tried, but couldn't find much impact from their Lucian/ Nami botlane. Meanwhile the already accelerated hard scaling Vitality could run rampant. By 21 minutes Upset was 7/0/3. And with so much space created for him through the draft, there wasn't much MAD could do to come back in the game. Clean victory from Vitality.

VS

🏁 Game Two

Once again the early game went largely in favour of Vitality. A clean botlane dive netted them first blood, then MAD tried diving toplane in return. But Photon's Olaf does not go down easily, turning the play around and killing Elyoya instead. Still MAD did not give up. Elyoya and Nisqy on Vi and Veigar got several picks to keep the kills more or less even, but Vitality always seemed a step ahead. Perkz was uncatchable on the Ahri, which made the game even harder for MAD's botlane, who couldn't find a big impact once again. Vitality had the scaling on their side, so as the game went on it became harder and harder for MAD to find any success in the teamfights. Overall another solid win for Vitality, who looked much cleaner than during the regular season.

Group A - Astralis vs Fnatic

^
VS
^
🏁 Game One

Two teams have upgraded from spring, so it promised to be an interesting matchup. And it did deliver! Astralis struck first by focusing the botside, granting Kobbe a significant lead over Rekkles. Fnatic then showed up big at the first Herald fight and with a bit of luck they came out with the advantage. The heavy CC they had drafted themselves with Lissandra, Maokai and Varus really paid off in those teamfights. Fnatic popped off, with lots of gold going over to Oscarinin and Rekkles. Astralis didn't flinch however. They were so decisive in their aggression, immediately punishing mispositioning on the side of Fnatic. Then they pushed those windows to the maximum. On the back of a couple of picks, Astralis took themselves another drake and a Baron. Kills remained in the favour of Fnatic, but Astralis massively accelerated their gold lead through good use of the Baron buff. Eventually one swift and decisive teamfight sealed Fnatic's fate. First game taken by Astralis, on the back of Kobbe going deathless.

🏁 Game Two

Astralis has built a reputation of creative picks since this Spring, and at match point already they decided to cook again. Unsurprisingly the Zed for LIDER while Finn tried countering Oscarinin's Olaf with the very exotic Illaoi. However the game couldn't start any better for Fnatic, who spotted out the overextending 113 at level 1 for an easy first blood. Then Fnatic snowballed that small advantage incredibly well. They played to the strenghts of their comp incredibly well. Especially Humanoid was owning the map, setting up picks on his Lissandra. Fnatic had full control of objectives and owned the fights. By the 20 minute mark they had a 10k gold lead over Astralis and big individual leads on their main carries. While pushing into Astralis' base, they were a bit overeager and gave a few picks over, but it only delayed the inevitable for Astralis. Dominant game from Fnatic to tie up the series.

🏁 Game Three

Matchpoint, high stakes and high pressure. No surprise game 3 ended up as a fistfight. Both teams traded kills over and over again, mainly off the back of Astralis being proactive and trying to play through LIDER's Irelia. We quickly got to see why, as a couple early kills towards him turned the Irelia into an absolute menace. On the other side Rekkles was getting quite fed on Varus as well. Fnatic eventually found a good teamfight, most importantly taking down the Irelia. They felt safe and started up the Baron, despite 3 members of Astralis still being alive. 113 made the hero play and stole the objective away. The tide turned in the favour of Astralis, who got more grip on the game now. Another Baron for Astralis later and they could close out the game. Both teams showed good things alongside scrappiness and tenacity, but in the end Astralis takes the win.

β€Žβ€Ž β€Ž Day 2 Recap

Group B - Team BDS vs SK Gaming

^
VS
^
🏁 Game One

Adam is known for his spicy champion pool, but Irrelevant had something cooking as well. Rumble into Olaf, volatile lane that draws a lot of attention. Lots of action around the topside right of the bat. BDS tried ganking, but Markoon was right there to turn the play around. 2 for 1 in favour of SK. Just a bit later Irrelevant got a solo kill, and 3 minutes later Adam returned the favour. Meanwhile Crownie had already picked up a few kills and established a lane kingdom. Thanks to the botlane, BDS could play their standard game of stacking dragons. SK quickly ran out of time and had to respond to BDS starting their 4th drake - but couldn't. Uncontested Infernal soul over to BDS, who could rule the subsequent fight with it into a clean Baron play. SK couldn't find any more angles to threaten Crownie, and thus BDS continued on their strong regular season form with a win.

VOD

^
VS
^
🏁 Game Two

Lots of action towards the botlane this time, BDS desperate to gain control of the dragon area while SK tried to prevent that. Once nuc started rotating on his Cassiopeia, BDS could really solidify an advantage. SK back to the topside then. 2 quick collapses on Adam as retalliation. And even the botlane wasn't in that bad of a state for SK. Sertuss displayed some good Ahri plays, but once again BDS at an early soul point. Minutes later both teams faced off in the midlane, a fight about to break out with a potential Hextech soul for BDS at stake. The engage looked good for SK, but one instance of mispositioning by Exakick got punished hard instantly. And just like game 5 BDS acquired a very early, powerful dragon soul to gain the upper hand. Even with gold even, SK couldn't win even fights anymore. And just off a single Baron, BDS closed out the game in clean fashion. Impressive stuff from BDS to earn themselves their first ever Bo3 victory.

Group B - G2 Esports vs KOI

^
VS
^
🏁 Game One

No G2 game without crazy drafting. This time their topside consisted of Pantheon, Gragas and Yasuo. The Pantheon immediately showed its value with a 2v2 becoming super easy with the point and click CC. 2 for 1 kills in favour of G2 but we were just getting started. Lots of brawling in the midlane, but usually G2 coming out on top thanks to their easy to execute comp and the global presence of Pantheon. Comp also needed more time to find impact as Zeri. More time than G2 were willing to grant KOI. However, it being G2 after all, they decided to flip the Baron. And obviously Malrang took the gift with both hands and stole the objective. Unfortunately for them, KOI couldn't get too much value out of it though. G2 was still in control and acquired the uncontested Chemtech soul. KOI still tried getting picks, but was undecisive in doing so. Trymbi went down and G2 headed straight over to a free dragon. Even though the objective was already gone, KOI (over)stayed around and paid with their lives. Shortly after G2 marched towards their victory.

VOD

^
VS
^
🏁 Game Two

G2 decided to run back the Pantheon after its success in the first game. Though this game didn't see much action towards the toplane. Malrang and Larssen ran the early game. The Lee Sin next to Lissandra is incredibly powerful and they used it to its potential. Good effort from the G2 botlane though, getting a 2v2 kill then with additional jungle aid. Unfortunately for them, no kill went over to Hans Sama. Meanwhile Szygenda was just chilling in the toplane, casually building a 2k gold lead against BrokenBlade. KOI had a comfortable lead across the board and even had the scaling on their side. Just had to play it slow. KOI stayed cool during a scary Baron fifty-fifty. Malrang's smite was once again clean. And a clean ace followed. KOI put the foot on the gas and by the next Baron they absolutely slaughtered G2 to equalise the series.

VOD

^
VS
^
🏁 Game Three

With their backs against the wall, G2 opted into a rather standard draft this time. Bar Jarvan IV support at least. The game also went differently than previous ones. G2 targeted Szygenda, who was more than happy to play weakside on his Kennen. Meanwhile the KOI botside was thriving. 3 drakes went over to G2 regardless, but it was KOI coming out on top during fights. Several kills went over to KOI's carries and Malrang, and the series' momentum had truly turned into KOI's favour. G2 still had the soul point as a potential win condition, but at the 4th dragon KOI just slam dunked the Winter champions. Not much later the Spanish org won another big fight to net them a Baron, which was enough to close out the game. Huge upset win for KOI, that keeps showing up way better in best of series than regular season.

β€Žβ€Ž β€Ž Day 2 Recap

Group A - Astralis vs Team Vitality

^
VS
^
🏁 Game One

Both drafts were rather standard, were it not for Photon locking in Kled into Finn's Olaf. Some mental warfare as Finn is widely known as a former Kled onetrick. It quickly proved Finn does know both sides of the matchup, as kills were traded at first, then moments later another solo kill went over to Finn. Unfortunately for him the rest of the map did not go that well, with kills going over to Upset and mainly Bo. But in the blink of an eye Astralis turned the gamestate by punishing Vitality's overagression, granting Kobbe 2 kills. From then on the game remained even, neither teams willing to give the other more than an inch. Eventually Vitality decided to flip the Baron, and in a chaotic exchange neither smite quite landed, but Bo still managed to secure it in a clutch. Though not enough Vitality members survived to make good use of the Baron buff. Vitality did find an ace minutes later though, on the back of Bo being enormously fed on his Wukong. Vitality finally found themselves with some control, and bought another Baron and the Ocean soul with it. The game ended shortly after. Monstrous performance for Vitality's jungler, finishing 11/3/13.

VOD

^
VS
^
🏁 Game Two

Honestly there is not much to say about game 2. The game was decided when 113 tried to invade Bo at level 3. A short but intense battle between junglers ultimately went the way of Bo, who displayed some of his mechanical prowess in the process. From then on it became the Bo show. By 20 minutes the Vitality jungler had 9 kills. He snowballed the entire map off the first blood, completely choking out 113. It became impossible for Astralis to make any proactive plays, and with Vitality's lategame insurances Zeri and Annie accelerated, the game was doomed. Vitality secured the Baron at 20 minutes, only to end the game barely 3 minutes later. Impressive showing from Vitality this weekend, not dropping a single game in order to be the first team to qualify for playoffs.

VOD

Group B - Team BDS vs KOI

^
VS
^
🏁 Game One

In the battle for their first ever playoffs appearance, BDS did not show any nerves. Sheo ran the early game, but it was only really til the second drake that the game took a sharp turn. KOI looked to have found a good angle, but Crownie arrived at the exact right moment to massively turn the fight around. 4 kills over to BDS on top of yet another dragon. Only Szygenda was individually ahead on the side of KOI, and the Danish toplaner tried his hardest. He found several big ultimates as Kennen, but nuc was secure in disengaging through Syndra's Scatter the Weak. After BDS ruled the first 20 minutes, KOI found another good opportunity around the Baron area. BDS was split up and for an instance KOI appeared to come out on top. However, KOI's damage lacked and Crownie remained untouched for too long. The result was another Certified Zeri Momentβ„’, Crownie's first ever pentakill in competitive and the Mountain soul. BDS put their foot on the gas pedal, smashed KOI against the wall and claimed themselves the Baron. That was the final nail in the coffin as the Swiss team ended shortly after.

VOD

^
VS
^
🏁 Game Two

KOI showed some more proactiveness this time around, but their luck did not last for long. BDS' gameplan of quickly stacking dragons has become as regular as clockwork, but somehow they make it work every time. KOI tried to counter them by showing up as 5 for the second drake. Szygenda had yet another nice Kennen engage and the fight should've been won, were it not for nuc staying alive for too long and cleaning up. That's a Cassiopeia with 4 kills in 15 minutes, and it only gets harder. KOI members got caught too many times and had a hard time retaliating into the Cassiopeia. Sheo and Labrov were running rampant on Vi and Thresh, getting those picks. BDS claimed the Ocean soul and Baron almost uncontested, KOI could not make a fist. The Spanish team slowly bled out as BDS had outscaled them across the whole board. Clean 2-0, nothing to see here, except for the fact that this is an insane underdog story for BDS. They will face Vitality in their first ever Bo5 since joining the LEC in 2022. Whatever that outcome will be, they have already secured top 3. Congratulations!

β€Žβ€Ž β€Ž Week 2 Preview

πŸ“Ί Saturday - Games To Watch

MAD Lions vs Fnatic Final chance for MAD, but it's looking dire. While their Winter split was great, nothing really seems to consistently work for them. Meanwhile Fnatic lost to Astralis, but in terms of play they are on an upward trajectory. Either team can take this one, should be 3 tense games.

SK Gaming vs G2 Esports It is very surprising G2 finds themselves in the lower bracket after appearing unbeatable in Winter. Some of their flaws are starting to show, but G2 not making playoffs would be a big upset. SK was top 4 as well last split, but they have visibly fallen off. Can they take down a wounded G2?

πŸ“Ί Sunday - Games To Watch

Astralis vs TBD Whichever team comes out to face them, Astralis should feel comfortable. They have beaten Fnatic in Bo3 already and they should be able to do so again. Or it could be the perfect opportunity to take revenge on MAD after getting knocked out by them in Winter. Either way, it would exciting to see this Astralis roster in playoffs with their fun playstyle.

KOI vs TBD Their fate is in their own hands, but question is, which version of KOI will show up? If they play at their best they can definitely make it into playoffs again. They have beat both G2 and SK in Bo3 before. But if members like Malrang do not have a good day, KOI might find themselves in trouble.

πŸ“Ί Monday - Games To Watch

Team Vitality vs Team BDS Our first Bo5 of Spring, between our 2 teams in form. Both teams have shown the ability to carry through any member, so it promises to be an interesting clash on all fronts. On one hand BDS is very methodical and clean, they always play around dragons, but how. 16/16 drakes secured in their last 4 games. On the opposite side Vitality might be a bit messier, due to the language barrier, but they arguably also have a higher ceiling through sheer mechanical prowess from members like Bo, Photon or Upset. Which roster will rise up in their first Bo5 to claim the first spot in the Grand Finals?

β€Žβ€Ž β€Ž Conclusion
