Has gaming affected your relationship(s)?

See, my girlfriend's pretty understanding until she gets jealous that I'm on MobaFire.

Yeah, you might know my girlfriend. Her name's Facebook?

Good girl, but she tells me ALL about my friends and what they said and it gets old fast =_=

^ Nice.

Well imo I think if you truly considered the others souses feelings and 'cared' then you wouldn't be gaming to the point were it would hurt the relationship. If you're a heavy gamer and you're not up to the task of changing your life style and making time for another person then you shouldn't get married in the first place..

Applies to gf relationships too

EDIT: oh wait, if you marry or go out with a female gamer then that kinda fixes the problem lol - that is if you actually game WITH them

Marital?

You should be able to establish dissatisfaction with a gaming habit well before marriage.

If it gets to there, the gaming habit isn't the problem.

You make a great point Temzilla, and fundamentally, I agree with you. However, what would you say then to the 30-something y/o man/woman who has been with his/her significant other for 10 years and only in the last couple of years, discovered their passion for gaming?

Discovered?

That's a dangerous word.

For simplicity, i will assume that this is a man, since I'm lazy and don't want to write "man/women" everywhere.

If the man is keeping it secret, then they have to talk about it, not play spy games.

If the man recently got into gaming, during the relationship, that could mean that his traditional hobbies have become less fun, which can be a sign of some sort of internal problems.

Either way, it's all about communication, and talking to your partner.

Gaming Addiction isn't an actual condition, so if the man is "addicted" to his games, then that is a psychologist's job to analyze that situation.

I just can't really see a situation that wouldn't be resolved before marriage, or isn't something that an individual has to decide for themselves.

Gaming isn't at it's basic level an "evil" or "bad" activity.

If Gaming is causing a problem in the relationship, I believe that there was an underlying problem, and golfing with buddies, or going bowling could cause the same problem as gaming would.
Tri lane for life.
