Lichbane Nasus is fun!
(did it once)
Willing to try anything once are we? ;P
Weirdest thing I ever did was put a Rylai's Crystal Scepter on my AP Teemo builds. But that's not like putting Lich Bane on Nasus :/
You don't get to decide whether an idea is bad or not without having tried it yourself, because you can't possibly know if it will work or not until you do. Once you try something you can say whatever the hell you want about it, but until that point you can't possibly have an accurate opinion.
EDIT: Yes, I will try anything. Things like jungling Soraka and hybrid Ashe come to mind...

Just out of curiosity, does the "ghost mace" part apply on-hits?
Mordekaiser's?
Yes, it can also Crit.
Lich Bane + 800 AP + IE = near 4k Q hits.
Edit: Nvm, lich Bane Proc can't crit, my math was way off :s.
It's pretty Insane when you one shot their tank

Actually, Manamune stacking Mordekaiser is pretty bad.
And i've never tried it.
Tri lane for life.
There's a difference between "unconventional" and "bad".
EX 1.
Manamune Morde = Bad
Manamune Ryze = unconventional
Now maybe manamune on Ryze isn't that good, but it could work and insisting it won't without trying it is stupid.
EX 2.
Lichbane Ashe = bad
Lichbane Kennen = once unconventional now considered core by many people

@Nameless: Well can't learn anything new if one does not experiment.
Min maxxing /shudder.
I'd prefer to call it theory crafting, the truth of the matter is I could build an AD version of Fiddle Sticks and go positive possibly even win.
This isn't WoW where our limits are set to each boss encounter, where achieving maximum effectiveness is possible because the parameters are set.
This is LoL (and though I love to play WoW A LOT) the difference is in the number of possibilities.
60 or 70 IDK how many anymore; number of champs. All with different ratios and abilites, as well as a rather large selection of items to choose from and build and a large number of runes....We aren't dealing with min maxing, we are dealing with theory crafting, every game is different, the power in theory crafting is that we are more flexible in applying it than typical min maxxing which tells us what is best for SPECIFIC situations.
Theory crafting allows us to play "what if". Min maxxing just says against this champ with this item build we do this. Or that's my view on it..Sorry for ranting :/

^^ yea really
When did "theory crafting" start meaning "shutting down any idea that isn't normal or conventional (usually without bothering to try it first)"?
The same time that those ideas became bad :D.
Theory Crafting should be renamed "Min-Maxing" because it's not "will this wotk?" it's "will this be more effective than that?".
Gunblade/Frozen Mallet are silly on Nasus, because he benefits much more from Life Steal, and doesn't benefit from AP very much.
Also, he already has a slow, so both items are greatly reduced in value.
His ratios are ****, but I can still see the thought process behind the choice. Why get Hextech Gunblade on Morde over Will of The Ancients? His Q scales off AD right? The thought process is solid, the effect might not be AS effective as one would like but it doesn't mean for his situation it wasn't an effective choice. The biggest blunder of the build was Frozen Mallet on top of Tri Force, not his choice for Hextech Gunblade.
With all that said he still effectively DPSd and was able to overcome 3 champs in succession. It's not about what is built ALL the time. It's about why (at least to me); does that make sense?
Regardless of what we theorize this strange Nasus build apparently worked. It's something worth trying in the least. (With some variations)
You get it for the active, that combined with a Lich Bane, and it adds 165 damage to your Q.
