The only time it's really worth getting is for when you already have armor and magic resist established that can be applied to the health you would get from it, but honestly, other items do it better and have other effects that can be more beneficial.

It took me awhile, my first guide on MOBA was a tank Mundo guide but eventually I saw the errors of my ways (thanks to DEWO, he probably doesn't remember this but he commented on my build aggeeeeees ago).

Honestly, I've seen it done, they went 26/7/13. It was really situational though given the enemy team, they didn't have a lot of DPS on their team and our Mundo was really high... so... yeah.
I can't get my friend to stop rushing Warmog's on Morde, its so worthless since he already has a "buffer zone" to work with and should be utilizing it to its fullest potential.
It makes me very sad.

I like the build.
I usually go FM/Warmog's>Atma's>FoN>Sunfire>Random AD or tank item on most of my offtanks. Not necessarily in that order. Atma's will be providing the damage in combination with the HP.

It's not extremely reliant on getting to lategame, but your early damage will be a bit worse. Both ways are great ;)

Mundo NEEDS to hit HARD but good players will NOT waste their time burning a tank Mundo to the ground. You know what they'll do?

So yeah, build him tanky but give him some damage ffs.
Also, don't get warmogs on Morde or Sion or... Heck I really only see it viable on Shen and MAYBE Cho'gath.
